LaToya's Point of View ~ Friday, 9:32am
I'm stepping off of the plane, we just touched down in New Jersey. Here begins tour. With Brielle walking beside me, we headed over to the vehicle that my team arranged to pick us up from here. Getting in the back, I turned my phone off of airplane mode and the notifications rang off. Mentions from Twitter with people talking about how today begins the tour, Facebook posts, IG tags. I noticed that the twins had already made their birthday posts to each other. I called them around 12am knowing they'd still be up. Today is their 15th birthday.
Smiling at the thought, I felt as the vehicle started moving. I've got to meet up with my technical team to ensure that everything's ready for tonight, then it'll be a long day of getting gorgeous. Rolling my eyes, I looked over at Brielle who was already calling to talk to Brian and of course, D-Mack. They're one of the best couples I've seen in a while. Pulling up to the arena, we got out and fans were already lined up. It's around 9 in the morning and the concert doesn't start till 7. I love them and all but they're crazy. Walking through the crowd with the help of security, I smiled and waved. The flashing of cameras was bothering my eyes a little but it was all good.
Inside the building, they were already assigning security guards to different areas. They were paying special attention to the VIP section. I was grateful for that. Heading backstage, we met up with Joey who didn't look stressed out at all. He was just giving instructions. Brielle fled to check out the dressing rooms as he shook my hand and gestured towards a rolling desk chair. Sitting down, I rested my bag on the ground underneath the table and looked at the screen as he pressed different buttons. "How have you been, Ms. Williams?" I'm so glad he's stopped calling me Mrs. Broadnax. I mentally thanked God before responding, "I've been good. How are you? How's the family?"
He nodded in response, "We're doing just fine." I noticed the twinkle in his eyes as he riddled off about how his daughters are doing so well and how his son got accepted into Harvard. After congratulating him, I had to ask, "How do you manage work and family?" He shrugged, "Prioritizing and taking things one step at a time. With a family like mine, you've gotta be around. You can't miss out on the memories that would be made." Nodding, I gave him a smile as we ran through different lighting settings and clips that would play during the show. In the middle of talking with Joey, my phone's text alert went off. Getting it out of my bag, I gave him an apologetic smile, "It's my grandmother. Excuse me." He gave me an understanding smile as I answered, "Hello?"
She spoke up, "Hello, dear. How are you? How are preparations for the tour?" She knows I'm going on tour? Wow. "I'm holding up grandma and things are going great. In the middle of handling some things right now. How are you?" She riddled off, "I'm great but I don't mean to keep you from your work—" I had to stop her, walking off and over to this door that read exit. Standing outside, I noticed that it was some kind of loading dock so I was very high off the ground. "It's fine. Family first, remember?" I knew she was smiling, "I just spoke to the kids. The twins seem really excited about seeing you today." Oh, that's how she knows. "I am too. I miss sharing moments like this with them." She breathed, "Do what you can but remember their happiness first always. That's what I had to do with your father." My facial expression dropped at the mention of him.
