Chapter 28
*Ciara's POV*
Later that night, I was sitting on Jordan's bed, sprawling my body over the sheets. Mason's laying on top of my hip, I keep rolling back and fourth which is entertaining to him. Right when he was about to fall onto the comforting mattress, I would roll in the other direction and keep the pattern going.
Jordan's on the phone with her boyfriend, Anthony. I think they were trying to work something out, I wasn't paying attention enough to know for sure, though. Jordan kept giving me a devious smile, I tried to ignore it each time but when she gave me the third one I spoke up.
"What is up with you doing that?" I finally ask.
"I'll text you when we leave, thank you. Love you too, okay, I will, bye," she hangs up her phone and gives me that wicked smile again.
"What is it!" I said, popping up from laying down. Mason sat in my lap now, clapping his hands together as he babbled on.
"What if I told you Anthony and I came up with a plan?" She asks while the slick grin dances across her lips.
"What kind of plan?" I say uneasily, my full attention on Jordan.
"To get your stuff from Mike back," before she could say any more, I already knew my answer.
"No Jordan! That's way too risky. He'd kill us, literally." If Mike saw me I could only imagine the things he would do to me, or worse, Mason.
"Don't worry, he won't be home! You keep complaining about how all of yours and Mason's stuff is there, so it would be perfect to take it all back! You need to get your life back together, and you'll need some of your old stuff to start over with. You'll be fine, so will Mason. Someone can wait in the car with him while you get the stuff!" Jordan sounds sure, but I was still against the idea. Who knows what Mike was capable of, who knows who Mike had working for him.
"I would not take Mason there, absolutely not." I stand my ground, feeling uncomfortable with the thought of Mike being anywhere near Mason. I used to think Mike was perfectly fine around Mason; that he would never dare to lay a finger on him, but that was proven wrong the night everything went wrong. Now I feel as if Mike would purposely hurt Mason to get back at me. It made me sick to think about.
"Then okay, he can stay here with my parents while we go and get everything," she sounds positive, almost as if she's been planning this scheme for months. Which is not likely at all, so why does she have so much confidence in this plan?
"I can't leave him here alone with them! Are you kidding me? They're already doing enough by just letting us stay here!" I protest, staring at her like she's crazy.
Jordan just rolls her eyes and groans. "Then tomorrow we're going. I'll call Anthony back and tell him how you're against the idea and that we'll wait until tomorrow. Harry can watch Mason or something, would that be okay?"
I sigh, I did really want to get things from Mike's house. Not clothing, not furniture, nothing like that. I wanted things like Mason's baby pictures, keep sakes, birth documents, important things like that back. "Can I take some time to think about this?"
"No. You'll be fine, I'm calling him back and tomorrow, we're going." And with that, the conversation was over, and I knew tomorrow I would be forced to step foot in Mike's house.
~
I could barely sleep that night, the thought of everything that could go wrong today fluttered in my brain. I was jittery in the car. My fingers were tapping against my thigh as I counted down the minutes until I would see Harry next. I've only been away from him for three days but it still feels like forever. I had called him earlier and he agreed to watching Mason while Jordan, Anthony and I went to raid Mike's house, but what he wasn't aware of was exactly that. I told him we were going to have a "girl's day," and he didn't ask any more questions after that. I feel sort of guilty for lying but it was for his own good. I didn't need Harry worrying about us, if everything goes as planned Mike should be at work at this time.
I'm excited to get all my stuff back, it felt powering. I wonder if this is how Mike felt when he would abuse me, like he was in charge. Which he basically was... But this is a new feeling to me. It feels like I call the shots, I had never done that with Mike. It was always his way, and if it was incorrect, I would have known.
We pull into Paul's driveway, at least that's what I remember Harry had told me his bodyguard's name was. Harry's sitting on the porch step, right when he saw Jordan's car roll up he jumped up, attempting to casually speed walk over to the us, but I could sense his thrill.
I open up the car door and scoot out, smiling fairly wide at him. "Mrs. Hideaway, I've missed you," he says while bringing me into a tight hug. I shut my eyes and wrap my arms around him, I can feel his hot body heat through his white T-shirt that hugged his muscular torso.
I look up to his face, I didn't realize how much I missed Harry until this very moment. He had the cutest little half grin that made me want to hug him even more. "I've missed you too," I reply as I gaze into his eyes.
"Things good there?" He asks once we both let go of each other. I look towards the car, where Jordan sat in the passenger's seat pointing to her wrist as to say, "we're going to be late!" Anthony's scoping out at Mike's work, checking to make sure he'll remain there while we go through his house.
"Yeah. Really good," I reply before turning back to Harry. A red bandana was clearing the hair off of his forehead and kept it back. I start to giggle to myself the more I looked at him.
"What are you laughing at?" He arches his eyebrows.
"Your bandana," I poke the top of his head, he begins to smile. "You're like a little girl."
He pushes my hand away from his accessory, interlocking our fingers together while doing the motion. "How about I get Mason so you and Jordan can have your day out?" He holds a tight grip on my hand as he guides me over to the car.
"Okay. His bag is right there," I point to a small bag that holds all of Mason's essential needs if he was going to be away from me for a bit. He unbuckles Mason from his car seat and picks him up, Mason smiles at the sight of Harry.
"Hey buddy," Harry lets go of my hand and tickles Mason's foot. I help Harry guide the strap around his shoulder, it takes a few times because it kept getting caught on his ear.
"Well, I guess you guys are all set," I lean over and kiss Mason's cheek.
As I pull away, Harry gives me a confused glance, "I don't get one?"
"Maybe next time," I wink as I slam Mason's car door and open mine up. Harry moves his body in front of mine, blocking me from being able to get into the vehicle.
"I want you to understand that later, you will make up for that. " He replies sternly before allowing me into the car.
"Oh, will I?"
"Absolutely."
I cock my head to the side while plopping into the seat, "I guess we'll see," I answer while shutting my door. Harry amusingly shakes his head and walks back towards the house. I strap the seatbelt around me and take in a deep breath, Harry had calmed my nerves for those short minutes.
"Ready?" Jordan asks.
"No." I answer, starting to regret this right when I felt the car pull into gear. What did Jordan get us into?
