Percy heard from one of the other campers about Sea world. He looked into it and even though he was disgusted, he took Annabeth so he could talk to the Whales. Once he had heard all the abuse and such that went on, he decided to break them out. He used all his power and finally managed to get all of them back into the ocean.
No human being could ever work out how they went missing without a trace.
