Picking up the Pieces

Frozen

That's how you felt everyday after the incident. It's how you felt everytime you where near him. Everything just seemed so broken and stuck in place and you didn't know if was going to get better or worse

And that killed you inside...

Everytime you looked at him it reminded you of what you lost. You didn't blame him for what happened but the fact he never recognized what had happened to both of you is what agitated you the most

You sat curled up in a blanket on the sofa re-reading an old book when he came and sat on the other end.

You looked up from the book and at him, he sat there just staring at the wall not making a sound. You sighed and put down your book, adjusting yourself so you could be closer to him.

"Michael?" You asked as your hand gently touched his

Once he felt it he quickly yanked his arm away and stood abruptly. Anger boiled inside you as your eyes watched him walk away

"Michael!" You snapped suddenly standing up, hands in fists

He stopped and looked back at you

"Just because we lost our child doesn't mean we lost what we had"

He didn't move

"At least I recognize what happened and why it did!" You yelled in anger "Unlike you who doesn't care that we lost something near and dear to us!"

Still no movement

Tears started to roll down your eyes as the memories came flooding back. The drive home from the hospital check up, the joy you two felt after hearing his first heart beat, the ultrasound picture you still keep close to you, the horn blaring, the sudden pain you felt as your body was pinned between the dash and your seat and finnaly the pain staking news that you had lost him...

"I love you still..." You choked out

He turned to you and opened up his arms. You darted into them feeling his warm embrace, smelling his scent and feeling how close he kept you to his body

And for the first time in months you finnaly didn't feel frozen anymore...you felt like a tiny ray of sunshine finnaly showed through the darkness surrounding the two of you...
