(Mike's POV)
I felt weird talking to her about that. It was weird to have to explain that to her. I guess it wasn't so bad though. In the ending, things always end up good for me. I'm not so sure why, but I have really good luck. Well, most of the time anyways.
"So...you're gonna be all okay with this?"
"Yeah! I guess it's gonna be fun for both of us, Mike."
"Hey, you're learning more words! Good job El!"
"Thanks.", She giggled.
Oh how I died over that little giggle of hers. It really made me brighten up. I seriously have no clue what I was doing with myself before I met her. I knew something was missing. Everyday, I was right, thinking I forgot something. It was her. El.
We had a really good time downstairs. Even though I knew that I was breaking the rules, I was having fun. That's all that matters to me right now. We're kids, right? I wanna spend my childhood having fun. Not living under rules. Especially when El was here. I wanted her to think I was cool. I didn't want her to know what a waste of space and effort I was. Gosh, if she knew how uncool I was in public, she would be gone in minutes.
'El..."
"Yeah?", Her eyes shined and I immediately was breathless again.
I took a few breathes, "Are you ever gonna leave me?"
"What, Mike?", I could tell I was making her sad.
"N-N-Nothing. It's nothing.", I said trying to cover things up. I ruin everything. See I told you!
"Mike. I wouldn't ever leave you. I need you. You can't leave me. I can't leave you. Okay?"
"Y-Yeah! I totally get it, it's just, I'm such a dork and I'm not sure why you want to be with me. I just don't--"
"Mike!"
I immediately looked at her. "Yeah?"
"You aren't any of that to me. Your Mike. My Mike. I wouldn't ever think of you as that."
"Really?"
"Promise."
"I promise too, El. Forever, okay?"
"Forever."
