(Mike's POV)
I don't know why I said it. I just did. I know it's really weird of me to say something like that, but I did. My friends know me as the shy and weird, introverted guy, Mike. It isn't like I'm social or anything. I just try my best to be nice to girls.
El was out of the room, and I was still in the room, thinking about a lot of weird stuff. Braces. Eleven. Just everything. Soon enough, she was back in the room though, only having to bring the plate to the kitchen.
"Hey, so I was wondering, what color of braces do you think I should get on my teeth? I was thinking a navy blue.....?"
"Uh...sure....?", She didn't know what to say.
"Here.", I sighed, "Do you wanna do something? I mean, we are trapped in my room for the night....unless-unless you wanna leave."
"No! I don't wanna leave. But what do you wanna do?"
"Well, I have a polaroid camera. We could take some pictures, I guess.....?"
"Umm..yeah! Why not?", She smiled in the most nervous was possible.
"Is something wr--"
"I'm fine.", I saw her clench a fist beside her lap.
"Oh, yeah. Of course! Sorry."
"No! No. You're fine.", Her fist let loose, and she sighed.
I could tell something wasn't right. Maybe her feelings were taking over again. Who knows. I mean, come on, it's Eleven. She's a whole girl of mysteries. It's crazy.
For a few moments, we stared blankly at each other in silence. I broke the awkward silence, and stood up fast with a sigh. I walked over to a huge blue bin by my closet. It was full of junk, but I knew my polaroid was somewhere deep inside the box. I reached into the junk filled box, and pulled out some of my old toys from when I was younger. Next, I pulled out an old treasure chest-like box, covered in dust. I set that on the floor beneath me, next to where I stood. Maybe later me and El can go through that. At least it will give us something to do. One of the very last things I pulled out of that box, was my black polaroid camera. It was a little beaten up, considering me and Dustin took it on the nature path down town last summer.
I blew the dust off of the camera, and held it high. "Here we go. Isn't it cool?"
"Uhh....?", She gave a confused look.
"Oh, here. Let me show you how to use it. It isn't hard.", I sat next to her, on the floor.
I showed her the top of the camera. I pointed to the button you press to take the picture. I demonstrated it once to her, and then I let her try it. I moved her finger to the button as we were laying on my bedroom floor. She giggled, then the camera made a snapping noise, and the picture was taken. I shook the picture a bit when it came out. It came out perfect. We were both smiling, real smiles too. It made me happy.
"I like this one.", She said, while pointing to our faces, a huge smile on her face.
"Me too. You can.....keep it....if you want.", I said to her.
She slowly looked at me. We were still laying on the wood floor. I handed the photo to her, and she smiled at me. She placed it on her chest, and hugged it tightly. Her eyes shut, and she exhaled deeply.
"El.....? Are you...okay?"
"Fine.", She said, her eyes still shut.
"Oh. Yeah.", I laughed a bit.
"Mike?"
"Uh huh?", I turned to her as she slowly opened her eyes and looked at me.
"Forever?"
"What do you m--"
"I mean, forever. Will we be forever?"
"Well, that's on us. We're the ones to decide that. We can be forever, only if you want to."
"I want to, Mike."
"Me too, El."
