(Mikes POV)
That was the most uncalled for, most horrifying, most terrifying, thing that had ever happened to me. I was scared for El. She had no clue what she was doing out there. And when she started to cry, I got really scared. I was almost ready to throw a punch, but I would never do that to a girl. Not even Mel Joseph. Mel is the most annoying brat it in the whole entire school. But, she does get away with everything too.
"Eleven, you alright?"
"Uhhhmm...yeah! I'm fine.", She said. I could tell she wasn't.
"Somethings up. You can tell me, El. I'm your--", I stopped right there.
"What are you to me? I've been asking myself that for awhile now.", She said.
"Well, I think of you as.....my uh..."
Girlfriend. I couldn't tell her that just yet. I just can't we are only twelve. But a lot of kids in my school already have dates. Should I? No. Not yet.
"Girlfriend?"
"How di--"
"You called me that when we were with those girls."
"Oh yeah...", I rubbed the back of my head.
We didn't talk again until we were back in my lonely and boring basement. As soon as we got there, she plopped herself on her little bed and covered her face in her hands.
"Hey! What's the matter?", I said, trying to tickle her.
"Nothing.", She was crying, I could tell.
"Okay...... Do you need anything?"
"Could you grab me my pajamas?"
"Of course.", I said, hopping up to get them.
I ran upstairs and into Nancy's empty room. I saw the ones El wore last night, and grabbed them immediately. They were pink and silky. The pockets had been decorated in strawberry patches. I ran back downstairs, to see El sitting up now. She was great at hiding her emotions, but I always know when something's up.
"You can talk to me....."
"Really? Because the last time I tried talking to you, you made me mad.", And she was off, up the stairs.
