CHAPTER 7

Waking up the first thing I smelt was coffee and when there is coffee it means my mum is back. Getting out of bed, I rushed downstairs and entered the kitchen and seeing my mum standing behind the counter i rush to her side giving her a tight hug.

"Mum I can't believe you made it for my birthday, i have missed you so much." I say and she releases a chuckle hugging me back saying happy birthday. At her back I noticed bill drinking coffee leaning on the table "Mum what happened I thought you wouldn't make it?" I asked releasing her.

"Well princess we we're supposed to stay but I had an important matter to see through and came back." she answered and my happiness died.

"Right, I should have known business as usually." I say feeling my mood plummet immediately.

"No princess, not business but you." she said chuckling at my shocked expression.

"Really so you canceled your trip for me?" I looked at her shocked not believing what she just said.

"Yes princess," she says as she takes me to sit down with her at the kitchen table and on queue bill is by her side. He acts more like a bodyguard than a husband, they're not affectionate with each other and there is hardly any physical contact. I mean I like the fact that there's no little brother or sister but I find it weird they have separate bedrooms, plus anytime we go out he always spends his time between eating and scanning the surroundings.

"Honey you're mum has something important to tell you so we came back." bill voiced bring my attention towards him.

"Am sorry but did we invite you into this conversation?" I asked glaring at him. I know you're probably shocked by my behavior because I never showed it before but that was because of mum and mar. I personally have never liked him and the revelations I made are not helping in his favor. Mar as been doing all she can to avoid the topic anytime I bring it up which makes me so damn curious to know what's going on and asking him is a lost cause.

"Princess don't talk to bill that way." mum warned looking exhausted and I know I should have left it at that but am too pissed to care.

"Why should I? he's not my dad nor does he mean anything to me even you can't acknowledge him. why should I show him any respect?" he fix's a death glare at me and I return the same look, I know I should be nice because he as been there for my mum when my dad wasn't but something about him just pisses me off.

"Don't start Sarah. I did not come back to fight or watch you too fight okay, I came home to talk to you about you're dad."

"Wow you said to never talk about him, why are you going to tell me about him now?" I asked curious and shocked.

"Because he is needed for this story am about to tell you." she said "Seat down princess and let me tell you. This is going to be difficult to say but I need you to stay quiet until am finished with what am about to say ok." she inquired and I just nodded my head.

"I met your father when I was 20 and was still in college, the truth is he had saved me one night when a group of drunk guys tried to take advantage of me."

FLASHBACK: Barbie's mother Pov

I can't believe I stayed this late in the library, blowing out a breath I increased my speed "Please, please, please oh God please let me get home safely." I mutter under my breath while I look around in the dark sidewalk that is completely deserted and continue to increase my speed, practically jogging.

Taking a U-turn through an alley I see my apartment building through the open way of the alley and release a relieved breath that I have gotten here safely. Pressing forward and just concentrating on the apartment alone I didn't see the drunk men coming my way and collided with them falling on my butt "Shit, will you watch where you're fucking going you ignorant fool!" I shouted and looked up to see three drunk men looking down at me and knew if I didn't get out there soon I will be toast.
