CHAPTER 18

With loud growls the gargoyles attacked heading straight for us and jess stepped in front of me sending a bolt of lightning towards one while the other was heading in my direction. I felt a wave of fear hit me for a few seconds before pushing it down and dodge out of the way has the gargoyle swiped its claws in the place I was standing before.

Turning it aimed for me again but the mysterious guy brought out a sword and I got a closer look at it has he raised it. The blade was surrounded by white flames with a black hilt that had two entwined silver dragons with their wings meeting in front with a small purple stone in the middle.

Stepping in front of me, he moved forward slashing the gargoyles stomach and it let out a loud cry moving back has the stomach lit up in flames but it did not last long.

It cried flapping its wings has it rose higher in the air and I looked over to jess I saw she was a hurt and struggling to fight the other gargoyle.

"If you're not going to do anything step back." The mysterious guy said and charged forward at the oncoming gargoyle while I stood there feeling useless.

Taking a step back I began to contemplate if maybe I should just leave but then I felt someone hold my hand and I turned to see David struggling to stand.

"You can do it princess, I believe in you." He said then passed out.

Crying out I dropped to the ground and held his face resting my head on his chest giving up thinking I lost him because I could not feel his heartbeat.

An intense pain seize my heart and I clutched my chest raising my head, has David's words chanted on and on in my head. Not wanting to be a weakling anymore I stood up and the wind picked up has I felt myself shut down not feeling any ounce of emotion.

Jess and the guy pushed back against the wind has they stared at me in complete wonder and astonishment has I levitated high in the air.

Watching the gargoyle struggle to fight my wind has they were in the air gave me a little satisfaction, I made the wind die down but before the gargoyles could gain their bearing and I raised my hand pushing a huge wind in their direction making them fall back with full force past the trees has they landed somewhere.

I dropped down to the ground landing softly on the floor and jess ran towards me "what the hell was that." She said and I turned to face her without emotion.

"Watch the rest of the guys. I will take care of the gargoyles, they will be back soon." I said and turned towards the trees has I waited for their return.

"You need to snap out of it Sarah." She yelled at me and I shoved her backwards with my mind has she stared at me wide eyed.

"I want my best friend back, please come back." She whispered crying.

"David is dead because of those things and I need to fight them, for me to do that I need to remain this way, my former self is too weak." I said curtly at her.

"David isn't dead Sarah." She said looking at me astonished and serious. I felt the flood of emotion slam back to me. Bending over I gasped at the force and pain it used when it came rushing back.

shaking my head "I felt his heart stop, if you don't believe me check for yourself." She laughed shaking her head and tried to respond but the mysterious said before her.

"He isn't dead, well not yet anyway." He said stepping closer staring directly at my eyes I had butterflies flutter in my stomach. He smirked like he knew exactly the effect he had on me and I avoided eye contact.
