The moment my blood hits the coals, the whole world seems to move in slow motion. I see the dauntless cheering as I walk towards them. My new faction. I see the erudite looking around at each other, confused. I turn to look at the grey-clad abnegation. I have betrayed them, but at the same time, they betrayed me by leaving me with Marcus. And for what? To protect some stupid reputation?

Marcus. I sit down with my new faction. I quickly glance over at Marcus. His lips are pressed together and his stare is cold. He looks shaken. I did that. I put that expression on his face, and I couldn't be more proud of myself.

The rest of the ceremony passes in a blur. As soon as the last person transfers, the dauntless are up on there feet running out the doors. I'm about to join them when I hand grips my shoulder. I flinch at the touch and turn around to face this person. It's Marcus. I should have known.

I jerk my shoulder away from him, something I never would have done a few days ago. But I don't care anymore. I'm dauntless now.

With one final glare I turn on my heels and run after the rest of the dauntless, leaving a very shocked Marcus behind me.

I smirk as I sprint along the rest of the dauntless. They start climbing up the railing to the train platform, so I follow. I push my way through to the top, not even bothering apologize to the people I shove. Wanna know why? Cause I can.

I make it to the top and catch my breath. I see the train approaching from a distance and smile. I run along the side of the train and swing myself in, copying the stance of a dauntless member, and land on my feet. I lean against the wall and close my eyes as the cool wind blows through my undone hair. A laugh escapes me as the rest of the initiates hop on. I see a thin girl dressed in an erudite dress struggling to catch up to the train so I grab her wrist and pull her up at the last second.

She puts her hands on her knees and slouches down along the side of the train. I slide down with her.

"Thanks." She says, still kinda out of breath.
"No problem." I say. "Names Olivia."

"Lainey." She says back. She pauses for a second. "Olivia Eaton? Marcus Eaton's kid?" She says, trying to confirm my identity.

"Uh, yeah-can we not talk about that..." I say not meeting her eyes. I had thought that people wouldn't be able to make the connection. Apparently I under estimated the logic of people. Hm.

She nods in understanding. I smile in thanks.

"Lainey! I thought you weren't gonna make it!" Exclaims a girl with dark brown hair and hazel eyes. She also wearing erudite clothes. They exchange a quick hug before Lainey introduces me.

"Hi, I'm Katie." Says the girl. I nod but don't say my name back.
"Hi."

"Oh, a stiff! Nice. I'm Matt."Says a tall dauntless born. He's got light brown skin and hair so dark that it's almost black, but it's not.

"And Im...not available." I say jokingly and Katie and Lainey crack up. Matt smiles a crooked smile and me and chuckles.

"Alright." He says turning away, putting his hands up in mock surrender. I laugh. It feels good.

I talk and laugh with Lainey and Katie the rest of the way there. After about 10 minutes one of the dauntless members tells that we're going to jump. We reach the platform and I spring into the air, my feet hitting the rough asphalt only seconds later. I just love that. The adrenaline. The wind in my hair.

We gather around a dauntless member by the ledge. He has broad shoulders and is very muscular. It's pretty hot. But that's not even the most beautiful thing about him. His eyes are a piercing blue and I feel like he's staring into my soul. I think I might have just a little crush...
