Chapter Two

Secret #2: Best friends are rather hard to find, but Roger Andersen and Taylor Partanov to me, are the best of them all.  I trust both of them, wholeheartedly with my life and I bet they trust theirs with me.

Whenever Monique didn’t feel happy with herself or with other, she would always disappear for a few hours and then come back perfectly content.  This time however, her disappearance took a little longer than before.  Today, clearly was not at all going the way in which the young agent had planed it to go.  She had expected to just spend that day doing paperwork, probably train in some newbies and then going home early.  But now Monique found herself facing a whole new situation, caring for two people she had never met before.

She was later found sulking in her unit office by one of her best friends, Roger Andersen.  The girl was sitting upside down on a soft couch in the main area of the office.  A soft chuckle disturbed Monique's quiet sulking and she looked up into her best friend’s green eyes.  Roger shook his head as he watched the girl slumped into the couch once more and mutter, “Go away Raw, I don’t want to talk, at least not now.  Leave me to my silent sulking.

Sitting down next to Monique, Roger snorted and gently tickled the girl’s stomach, causing her to squirm slightly, in an attempt to get away from the offending fingers.  “Yeah right.  Silent sulking?  You know, I haven’t seen you done it since we were kids.  Wait, is that what you do when you disappear?” The boy asked in amusement.

“Anyway, you know, that I know, that once I get you talking, you’re never going to stop.  So why don’t you start talking?”  The person beside him dutifully ignored him, so the boy continued.  “So, I heard that you have been recruited into the RPP.” He mused softly.  A brief moment of silence laps over them.

Monique glanced up at Roger who was starting down at her with a slightly taunting, but curious look on his face.  Her mind struggled with her brain as it screamed for her to let it all out.  She knew that her best friend wanted her to talk, but won't say anything about it until she did.  She bit her lips but then sighed.  “Fine you got me.” She muttered before properly sitting on the couch with a slight roll of her body to the side.  “Yeah I’m now one of the agents there.  The Director wants us to protect twin princes.”

“Us?” Roger asked confused, “Why us?  I thought it was just you?”  He raised a perfect blonde-bronze eyebrow up at his best friend.  The boy was rather surprised by the news, although inwardly he was secretly happy about it.  He was finally able to do another mission and not sit about all day doing paperwork.  Not that he was going to be doing it for long.  College was just a month and a half away and he was very eager to get back in school.

“Nope, dad said that we are working as a unit, but with me as the leader as usual.” Monique sighed with a frown.  She crossed her arms across her chest and let out a huff and pouted silently, her best friend slightly forgotten at the moment again, “Why couldn’t they find someone else to do it?”

“You don’t look so happy with this promotion.” Roger noted, “If anyone else got this job, they would have been celebrating.  But not you thought.  You are a strange girl.”  That earned him a punch in the shoulder as Monique looked back up at him with a glare.  Wincing, the boy rubbed his injury.  “Ow, no need to attack me, I was just joking.”

“Raw, I’m not in a mood to joke! What if I mess up and get everyone killed?” Monique wailed waving her hands worriedly around, before burying her head in Roger’s lap.  The boy automatically went to stroke the girl's raven curls, as it tumbled off his lap in black waves.
