Chapter Fourteen

Surprisingly, things weren’t too complicated after that day at the mall.  It turned out; having Jasper in on the whole situation was one of the best decisions that Monique had made.  Unit 2 became one of their best allies and made searching for the assignation group so much easier than having just one unit working on it.  Well made that one and a half, Monique still wasn’t back at work and as for Taylor and Roger; the two of them were taking turns making sure that their leader was okay.  Also they had eventually recruited Tony and his Unit 3 as well.

Weeks went by without too much hassle and Monique found herself a little antsy in going back to the agency to work.  She felt that she was wasting too much time lolling around when she could be training the twins on how to defend themselves.  It was not like they couldn’t already; they were boys, but just in a better way.

Things however changed from normal to disastrous when the Queen’s first letter came in the mail for Monique.  Her perfect relationships with Roger and Rion quickly began to unravel…

It started out like every other normal day when the young agent went out to get the mail as usual on a bright sunny Saturday.  As she walked back towards the house, sorting the mail, a letter in a rather heavy envelope caught her attention.  It was addressed to her from the Queen.

Hurrying into the house, Monique set aside the rest of the letters and plopped down on a couch.  Carefully she looked the mail over for any defects and triggers.  Finding none whatsoever, with shaking hands, the girl opened it up and pulled out the letter.  Right away, the opening stunned her.

My Dear Monique,

I hope this letter reaches you in good time and that you are back in good health.  Perseus and Orion had both written to me that you have gotten into a small accident with a fellow agent.  Nothing too serious I hope.  They both have also warned me not to talk about too personal stuff to you, seeing that some things about them don’t really concern you.  But I must sincerely disagree with them.  To me, since you are taking care of my grandchildren, you are already family.  Please don’t find this statement too disturbing.  I apologize if it was.

Anyways, speaking about Perseus and Orion, how are they?  I hope they are not causing too much trouble for you.  They are good children, even if they are a little rowdy at times.  Every single time I see them, they remind me so much of their father.  He too was sometimes very naughty at times.  Oh do forgive me, I have rambled off topic and became too personal again.  Nevertheless, I sincerely hope that you will come to love them both as much as I do.

If there is anything I can do to make taking care of them a little bit easier, please tell me.  I am more than happy to give advises.  Please do reply back as soon as possible, sometimes it is so unbearably hard not to be able to hear from all of you every day.

Sincerely,

Josephine

Josephine Malon

Her Royal Majesty, Queen of Royslin

Monique, after reading the letter over a couple of times, stared at it with a dumbfound expression on her face.  It was much, much, much too personal for her liking.  For heaven’s sake, the Queen didn’t even sign her name properly!  It was almost as if, Her Royal Majesty was talking to a favorite grandchild or someone very close to her.
