Chapter Twenty-One

Secret #21: THAT OUTRAGEOUSLY RIDICULOUS, NERVE WRECKING, POMPOUS IDIOT!!!  Why on earth would anyone want to keep such a serious thing, such as a death threat, a damn secret?  Such a person is probably stupid, insane or probably just wants to get everyone who are involved, to get hurt. Roger couldn't possibly want that to happen to us right?  Then why does he want to wait to tell everyone?  I just don't freaking understand him!

--

"Mail time!" Monique heard Roger called from the living room.  Setting down her pencil, the young woman got up and walked out of her room.  She was just finishing up homework for one of her classes.  It has been already 3 months since the first day of class.  She couldn't believe how time flies when things get busy.

"Hey Roger, how was class?" She asked, as she took the stack of letters from the young man as it was handed to her.  Monique and Roger were the only one at the apartment at the time being.  Taylor was at cheer practice; Jasper was back at his dorm working on ‘stuff' for the government and as for Tony, Percy and Rion, the three of them were all at the library, working on homework.

Roger shrugged his shoulders and replied, "Eh, I have a test coming up soon, but other than that, things are all right."  He walked over and peered over Monique's shoulder to look at the content of the mails.  Most of the mails were advertisement, but one of them caught both of their eyes.

"Hey, what is this?" Monique asked, picking out a letter that had her name on the front.  The writing was different from anyone she knew, and there was no return address on it.

"Don't open it." Roger advised, "It looks very suspicious and unsafe.  Plus there isn't a return address.  Who knows where it came from? It could be full of dangerous stuff."

The young woman scoffed slightly and replied, "Raw, I bet it's just some idiot from downstairs trying to prank me or something of that sort.  Besides who might want to hurt me?  I haven't done anything wrong."

"I don't know, perhaps you are right.  However remember whom we are trying to protect.  People who are trying to hurt Percy and Rion possibly could be trying to hurt one of us too." Roger reasoned.

Monique sighed softly as she glanced down at the letter in her hand.  The more and more she thought about it, the weirder it became to her.  "But," She finally said, "What if it is something of importance and whoever sent it didn't want it to fall in the wrong hands?"

Roger still didn't look too convinced about the whole debate that they were having, but nevertheless he also sighed and muttered, "All right then, do whatever you want.  Let's just hope it's not poisoned or anything."

Gulping, the two teens stared at the envelope for a few more minutes before Monique finally had the courage to open the letter.  But as soon as she opened it, she dropped it on the table and took a few quick steps away from it.

When nothing happened, the young woman slowly came forwards and picked the letter up with shaky fingers.  Pulling out the letter, her eyes grew wide at the message:

I KNOW WHERE YOU ARE, YOUR HIGHNESSES…

YOU CAN HIDE, BUT YOU WILL ALWAYS BE FOUND.

BE PREPARED TO DIE!

Monique dropped it with a gasp and collapsed, thankfully into the chair next to her.  Roger, alarmed, scooped up the letter from the floor and quickly scanned over its content.  The young man's own eyes widened in disbelief and horror.
