Chapter Seventeen
Secret #17: I’m sorely confused about my feelings towards two people right now. I feel light as a feather when I think about Rion, but at the same time I feel down in the dumps when I think about Roger. What is going on with my emotions and me? Perhaps I should go see a doctor or something. I think that something is definitely not right. The feelings that I feel right now for both of them… they can’t be LOVE? Could they?

Behind the closed door, Monique ignored Jasper’s knocking on the door and his worried words. Still rolled in a tight ball, she felt tears stream down her face. Why, or why as her heart aching so badly?
Outside of the door, Jasper was still furiously pounding on the door when Tony came out of the bathroom. He gave the blonde boy a curious look, his eyebrows quirking up in confusion and asked, “Is something wrong Jasper?”
“Yeah,” Jasper said with his own eyebrows scrunched up in concern, “Monique took one look at me and then disappeared into her room with a lost expression on her face. Now she’s locked the door and won’t open it for me. I don’t know if I even did anything wrong.”
With a sigh, Tony rapped on the door and said, “Monii, please open up. It’s me. Jasper and I want to know what’s wrong.”
There was a soft shuffle behind the door before it was opened again. It revealed a puffy eyed Monique who was now softly sniffling, trying to get her crying under control. “H-hello.” She murmured dully as she scrubbed her eyes with the back of her hands.
“What’s wrong? Why are you crying? Did I do something wrong? I’m so sorry if I did.” Jasper asked worried as the girl turned to look at him. He started reached out to push the hair that had been covering the girl’s face, away, but then dropped it in dismay when the girl shook her head and shuffled back to avoid direct contact with him.
Still shaking her head, Monique sighed and said, “No, you didn’t do anything wrong Jaz. It’s all me. I’m sorry for acting that way. It’s just that the shampoo you used reminded me of… of…” Her throat seized up a little before she forced the name out, “…Roger.”
Tony sighed again and pulled the girl into a hug. “There, there. Everything is all right. There is no need to cry over Roger Andersen. He’s really not that worth crying over, even if he is your best friend.”
“I-I knew that, that’s why I feel stupid about it.” Monique muttered, burying her head into the boy’s shirt and breathed in his freshly washed smell. Glancing out of the corner of her eye, she saw Jasper scuffing his bare feet against the carpet sullenly.
“Jaz, don’t do that.” The girl chided, “I’m alright now. No need to get angry over such little stuff.”
The blonde boy huffed slightly and shrugged his shoulders, “I know, I’m sorry. I’m just a little angry with myself for making you sad, that’s all. Are you sure that everything is okay now?”
Monique nodded her head, a smile lighting up her face. “Yup, I’m fine now.” Just then she heard a noise from downstairs. “Oh dad’s probably home.” She said, breaking free from Tony’s grasp and bounded down the stairs.
Jasper followed her while Tony went and rapped on Rion’s door. The boy opened it curiously and asked, “Hey Tony, what can I help you with?”
“Do you mind calling your brother and ask him if he coming back tonight or not?” The Asian boy inquired with a slight frown on his face.
Rion’s face darkened slightly at his twin’s name, but he nodded his head anyways. “Yeah, sure I can do that. I’ll give you an update in a few minutes.”
