Chapter Twenty-Three

Secret #23: I have never felt more trapped and scared in my life.  Nor have I been this angry towards another person before.  Just thinking about loosing my best friend makes my heart throb terribly and my blood freeze.  Whether or not this story will have a good or bad ending, will be totally up to me as well as little fate.  I will do all I can make everything turn out all right, even if that means me dying.  However dying… That is the last thing on my mind.

After that fateful night, everyone became very careful in keeping an eye on the twins.  No one wanted to know what would happen if they didn't make sure that the twins were safe at all causes.

Roger and Jasper made sure that everyone had their cellphones on them at all time.  They even added trackers as well as homing devices to everything that everyone wore, just in case people got into sticky situations and needed help but where far away.

Not one word protest came from them, about these new additions to their wardrobe.  They all knew how critical it is for them to wear them and be safe.  It would only be a matter of time if the opposing side attacked.  Woefully, no one knew how close that day would be.

A week later, as Taylor was walking back from cheer practice one night, she heard footsteps coming from directly behind her.  Trying hard not to let fear as well as panic to show on her face and body, she slowly began to walk faster towards the apartment.  The footsteps that were following her increased their pace too.

Glancing about the empty roads around her, the blonde woman cursed herself for not bring anyone else with her.  Tony and Monique had made everyone promise to at least bring another person along with them each and every single day, to make sure that no one was alone at night.  However, tonight, Taylor had completely forgotten that rule since everyone else was so busy.

Suddenly hearing silence behind her, the young agent made the mistake of stopping and turning around to look behind her.  A large hand loomed into her vision and handkerchief covered her face.  For a split second, she panicked before hitting the tracking and homing device in her pocket.  Then her world became dark as she passed out.

--

Meanwhile Monique, Roger and the twins were back in their apartment, playing scrabble as well as working on homework, waiting for Taylor to come back, when they abruptly heard a strange beeping noise coming from everyone's room.  Jumping up from their seats, each of them hurried towards their own respective noises.  It came from the homing program that Jasper and Roger had installed into their computers and as one, came to a horrifying conclusion.

Reflexes kicked in and without even blinking an eye, both Monique and Roger picked up their cell phone to call Tony and Jasper.  But it was not necessary; the front door to their apartment was basically more or less knocked down as the two said young men came charging into the living room.

"Something has happened to Taylor!" Everyone blurted out in unison.  That comment sent everyone in to a state of chaos as people began pacing back and forth or began to call sporadically to the CIA's headquarters to report this incident as well as to the other agents involved in this case.

Things were in such disarray that no one had even noticed that Monique had been trying to get everyone's attention.  Finally fed up with being ignored, she bellowed, "GUYS! CALM DOWN ALREADY.  I CAN'T STAND THIS ANYMORE!"

The whole room became eerily quiet as the young men went silent to hear what she wanted to say.  Monique sighed a little before stating calmly, "I know you guys are trying to sort things out and to get everything ready, but seriously slow down okay?  At this rate, all you might succeed in doing is probably just tiring everyone out as well as confusing them.  I swear that all of you probably called the same department more than once without knowing it, or even maybe overlapped some of your calls, as well.  Just take a deep breath and make a list of people that you have and haven't called.  Trust me, it'll make life easier and much efficient for all of us."
