Chapter 24

Kyle

I'm just lying on my bed feeling hopeless....Kaira is gone and on her own. I really wish I could help her but there is nothing much that I can do.

At that exact moment the green glowing sphere that I sent to Guardian hits me on the head (Owww...that hurt).

It lands on the floor and unfolds into a mini version of Guardian. It relays this message: "Kyle dear, I've heard what has happened and I've, well, sort of hacked into Charlie's internal cyborg chip. She is now able to take control over her own emotions and actions, but they have already gone to that place....well I'm pretty sure you know what I'm talking about. Hope this helps, dear."

What?? That can't be possible...how does he know anything.

Flashback(Couple of weeks ago): It's about 10:30 in the night and I am about to sleep when I find my green sphere on my bed. It is buzzing and when I unlock it and it relays this message: "Kyle, this is your father, Jonathan Adams. I am here in the Mythlecis mountains requesting you to come and join me, for we will take over the world with my cyborg clan. If you decide not to come... I will take away the dearest people from you. You have exactly one week to present yourself."

I was pretty sure at the time that this was just another trap, and that my father was actually dead, and they were lying. But now... I should have pieced this together ages ago, what with Charlie being a cyborg, but I was so distracted about Kaira that I forgot all about it.

Now my distractions have caused the person I care about most to go into possibly grave danger. No, scratch that, definitely grave danger. I have no idea what to do! Maybe a little sleep would help...

(Dream starts)

I'm standing in a swirling dust tornado in what looks like... a desert? Suddenly, a man in a white suit appears about ten meters away from me. There's something odd about him that I can't put my finger on.

Out of the blue, or rather out of the yellow, considering the color of the desert, he says in a resonating voice, "Kyle Adams. This is Jonathan Adams. I have a message for you. As you have most probably realized, I have turned Charlene Burns into a cyborg, and controlled her. She has kidnapped Kaira Stream and brought her to me. We are going to kill the Streams girl and use Charlene to our advantage... but you will never know."

He pauses for dramatic effect, a wicked glint glittering in his eye. And that's when I realize why I thought something was off about him: He was wearing a white suit, but not a speck of dust landed on him, while my own clothes were sand filled and itchy.

He continues, "If you join us, none of this will ever happen. The Streams girl will live, and we will turn the Burns cyborg pack into a human. Choose wisely. When you have decided on your answer, lie down and close your eyes. There is a code word that you must say, and you you will be able to communicate with me in your dreams."

I finally find my voice, and I say, rather croakily,"But what if I don't want to answer you?"

He smirks, flashing pearly white teeth at me. "You will do what I say... or else."

And leaving me hanging with that threat, he disappears in a flash of green light. I wake up in a cold sweat, and see a hulking version of Mara looming above me; about twelve feet tall. I'd like to say I laughed in the face of my imminent death by Mara-cum-Hulk, yeah, laugh it up, but the truth is, I abruptly fainted.
