Kyle

It's been a year since I went over to the dark side. I took on a new name. Luke. I dyed my originally brown hair blond. I trained for months to become the best fighter in Jonathan's army, and all my hard work paid off. I was promoted to general of his army and under me, Jonathan won all his battles. I was still not ready to call him Dad, not after what he did to me. Not after what he did to the sisters. Especially not after what he did to Kaira...

But there was one thing that I couldn't change about my appearance. My eyes. They were still the same way- they were made up of different colors that changed to match my mood. I don't think that I'd ever be able to change the color as well. Okay, let me go over what happened in the past year. Charlie somehow fought the cyborg part of her, the part that my 'dad' was commanding, and freed Kaira. They attempted to escape, and were in the desert lands when MY 'dad', Jonathan, captured them. I wish that he hadn't but what could I do? Charlene had been re-brainwashed, and Kaira is locked up in the holding cells at the moment.

Kaira's allowed to train and eat, but nothing else. I'm pretty sure that if she saw me now, she wouldn't recognize me if i wore shades. Charlie isn't a problem, she's brainwashed and can be brainwashed again, easily. As a matter of fact, it's been done so many times, it's now a part of our schedule, just like daily meals.

It always happens on Sunday, at four thirty pm. Wow...it's amazing how used to her screams I am. At first I felt like she deserved it, but when I mulled it over, I felt a little guilty. Who am I to torture Charlie? Plus, as much as I try to mask it, I can't stop thinking about what Kaira would think about me if she saw this.

Kaira's trial is in a few hours. They imprisoned her for a year before letting her have a trial! Jonathan- I mean 'Dad'- is sooo unfair.

Gods, I sound like Mortal Instruments, don't I?
*SPOILER STARTS*
What with Jace thinking that the evil guy, Valentine's his dad- wait a minute. Even peoples' names are the same!  Clary's brother is called Jonathan, and so is my dad. Creep similarity if you ask me...
I wish what happened to Jace happens to me- finding out that his father's not really his father...
*SPOILER ENDS*
I smile as I think about the time that Kaira and I had had in her room at Mara's, when I first found out that she liked TMI as well...

She is sitting on her bed and has a book open on her lap. I try to read the book's name. It seems to be City of Bones from The Mortal Instruments series. "I love that book!" I say. She trips over the rug trying to stand up but I catch her just before she hits the ground.
"I'm sorry, I forgot to tell you I was here."
"It's okay, but, Kyle, remember I'm the biggest klutz you'll ever meet!" she laughs.
"Sorry," I say sheepishly, "Anyways, I didn't know you read."
"Hey, what's that supposed to mean? she asks playfully. "Nothing... just thought you were a girl who was really popular and wouldn't have time for books."
"Excusez moi? Do you even know me? I was one of the 'looked-down-upons' in my old school," she grins.
"Really, well, I thought you would have been quite popular considering how pretty you are." Oh no! I just called her pretty what is she going to think.
"Hey, Mr. Adams did you just call me pretty?" she says with a smile on her face.
"Maybe I did or maybe I didn't," I say with a devilish grin, trying to cover up my horrible mistake.

Okay, Luke. No way are you going to reminisce about Kaira before her trial. Somebody knocked on the door. I frowned, wondering who it could be. I had told them to only call me before her trial... I opened the door to see a soldier standing there. He saluted and said, "Sir, the Streams girl's trial has started. I'm here to escort you down to the court."

I was stunned. I checked my military style watch, and noticed that it was already time for the trial. Wow, time really does fly when you think about good times!

I headed downstairs, one soldier on either side of me.

I reached the podium and sat down. I angled myself towards the door where she would enter from. Dad was missing, again. That was good; it meant that I was judging the trial; and I could let her go free!

I heard footsteps resounding from the door and I snapped my head upwards. And then...she entered.
