"Not again," Stine muttered to himself.

Madison was in peril yet again. All of the monsters were out of the book, wrecking havoc and destroying everything in their path. People were starting to evacuate the town, screaming their heads off as they ran in the opposite direction.

Hannah, her father, Stine, and her friends Zach and Champ, however, were running towards the monsters, hoping to come up with a plan to put the monsters back in their place.

"Can we not just put them back into the book that we wrote, 'Slappy's Revenge'?" Champ asked, trying to keep up with everyone else.

"I am afraid not," Stine called out to him. "When I found the book, it was burnt to a crisp."

"We will just make another one," Hannah assured the group. "All we need is the typewriter. It should be at the school." Stine suddenly stopped running and turned around to face his daughter, his eyebrows narrowed. Everybody stopped and looked at him.

"Hannah," he began sadly. "The typewriter...was destroyed."

"But...how?!" Zach sputtered. Stine let out a heavy sigh. He placed his hands on Hannah's shoulders. "I do not know," he replied. "When I went to the school earlier to grab the typewriter, it was already a pile of ashes that was lying in the showcase."

No one moved. No one spoke. It felt as if the whole world just collapsed on them.

"Nice job, Veronica!"

What?

Something was wrong. Definitely wrong.

Stine turned towards where the voice came from. He looked, his eyes widened, his whole body tensed. "No..." he whispered.

"Dad, what is the matter?" Hannah asked with concern. Stine turned back to the group. "Do you recognize any of these monsters?" he asked nervously.

Everyone looked, the monsters destroying things from left to right. Zach was the first to respond.

"They do not look familiar," he stated. "They must be monsters you wrote about a long time ago that you must've forgotten." Stine slowly shook his head.

"I know every single monster that I have ever created," he responded. "These are not mine."

"Well, whose are they?" Champ asked, shaking a little.

"They are my friends, you puny mortal!"

Everybody gazed up to see a yellow triangle floating in front of them. He had only one eye and was wearing a top hat on his head.

"Who...who are you?!" Zach yelled at the flying dorito.

"The name is Bill Cipher," he replied.
