Chapter Twenty-Nine: Company

Before even the villains could get a word out, Shelly dashed into the bar. Bill turned to look at Kai.

"Do you know of this 'Barnes and Noble' that she is talking about?" he asked. Before the yak could answer, their waitress came back with a dark blue coat on and a dark red purse that was over her left shoulder.

"Well, I am heading off to Barnes and Noble," Shelly said. "It was nice talking to my most favorite fictional villains."

"Favorite fictional villains?" Bill whispered under his breath.

"I hope to see you guys soon," the waitress continued. "See ya!" She was about to head out the door, when---

"WAIT!" the Taker of Chi exclaimed. Shelly immediately stopped.

"What?" she asked, confused by what he had just exclaimed to her.

"Sorry for my outburst," the Maker of Widows apologized. "It is just that...we do not want you to go yet."

"What is all this 'we' stuff?" the dorito hissed at the yak. "Only Slappy would not want to see her go!"

"Shut up!" Kai hissed back.

Shelly walked back to their table. "Look, boys, I know that it is fun talking and hanging out with me," she explained. "However, I really have to go."

"No, you cannot!" Kai exclaimed once more. "Not until..." He quickly looked down at Bill, who was drinking...through his eye? Yep. Through his eye.

Weird.

"Not until you answer Bill Cipher's question!" He pointed at Bill. The one-eyed triangle stopped drinking.

"Woah! What?" he asked, suddenly confused. He looked at the Beast of Vengeance. "Boy, do not get me into this mess!"

"You asked me," the Taker of Chi said. "Ask someone who actually knows." He pointed at Shelly.

"Bill, you have a question for me?" Shelly asked softly. "Nope," the yellow pyramid answered, turning to Shelly.

"Yes, yes you do," Kai fought back. "Do you not remember? You asked me earlier."

Bill was now deep in thought. Was Kai lying? No. Bill remembered asking him something a few minutes ago. What was it?

What was it?

"Oh, I remember now," the yellow dorito reassured the group.

"Sure you do," the Maker of Widows said.

"Shelly, what is Barnes and Noble?"
