Chapter Twenty-One: Broken Friendship

"Leave me alone, you stuck-up show off!"

That is what Bullheit was thinking of exclaiming, but, of course, Goemo would just keep asking questions and be his annoying self.

The commander sighed. "Yes," he answered sadly. "Yes I was."

The scientist frowned at him. "Why?" he asked, crossing his arms over his chest.

Why?

Bullheit was deep in thought. Why did Goemo want to know? Was he curious? Was he concerned?

Did he actually care about someone else other than himself for once in his life?

Bullheit gave Goemo a warm smile.

"Maybe Goemo is not being annoying and stuck-up this time," the commander whispered to himself. "Maybe, somewhere inside him, he loves and cares for others. Maybe you have to see past his stubborn self in order to see his caring and loving self."

Then Bullheit thought of something that never occurred to him about Goemo.

"Maybe he just wants to be perfect."

"I am so glad that you care for ---" the commander started, when the scientist interrupted him.

"Why?" he asked again. Bullheit narrowed his eyebrows. He took a couple of deep breaths.

"Is it not obvious? Ameo was my best friend," he explained. He turned away from Goemo and stared out at the cosmos in space from his window. Tears formed in both the corners of his eyes.

"Ameo and I were the best of friends ever since we were made!" he exclaimed. "We went everywhere together. He was Lord Zorac's former commander, and I helped him with whatever he needed because he knew I was Lord Zorac's younger brother. We were friends for over fifteen years. Fifteen years!"

He turned back to Goemo, who could tell that Bullheit was really upset. The commander always had trouble talking about Ameo.

"Four years ago, there was a rumor going around on Zorac's ship that Ameo was sentenced to prison because he accidentally tripped over a rug in front of Lord Zorac," he continued.

Bullheit paused and took several deep breaths.

"That was all false information. Ameo was sent into space for defying one of Zorac's orders."
