Syd:
I walked into work with a smile on my face. I walked up to my boss' office. I'm an intern at a record label. I walked in and there he was, my best friend from when I was nine. Niall Horan. I paused and just took in the fact that he hasn't changed much. After I realized I had spaced out I jumped back to reality for see that Niall was staring at me too. He probably didn't realize me with how much I've changed. I grew my hair out and I have tattoos and piercings now.
I walked to my desk and sat down pulling out my laptop and putting in headphones and getting to work. I didn't really do much. I was really good at making music mash up so that's what my boss wants me to do when I'm not really needed. I was putting things together when I looked up and noticed that my boss and Niall were gone. I let out a sigh of relief and sat back and pulled out one of my headphones. I shut my eyes and tired to get myself to calm down. I had no clue why he was here or if he even remembers me, not to mention he was staring at me like a slice of pizza.
I was sitting with my head back and eyes closed when I heard a voice. I opened my eyes and Niall was standing in front of my desk. "I was told to come get you so we can start recording." He said. I just nodded and stood up fixing my pencil skirt before walking to the recording studio him following. We walked in silence, the only noise was my heels clacking against the floor. I walked in and my boss told me that I would be playing guitar. I grabbed the guitar and walked into the booth where the sheet music was waiting for me. I started playing and got use to the tune, I hummed the words as I played and then they sent Niall in to sing while I played.
His voice was amazing, I never knew he could sing like that. After they were done recording they went back to the office and I stayed there so I didn't intrude. I started playing the song again singing the words this time.
"I use to rule the world. Seas would rise when I gave the word. Now in the morning I sleep alone. Sweep the streets I used to own.
I used to roll the dice. Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes. Listened as the crowd would sing. Now the old king is dead long live the king. One minuet I held the key, next the walls were closed on me. And I discovered that my castles stand upon pillars of sand.
I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringing, Roman cavalry choirs are singing. Be my mirror, my sword, and shield. My missionaries in a foreign field. For some reason I can't explain, Once you'd gone there was never, Never an honest word, And that was when I ruled the world.
It was a wicked and wild wind, Blew down the doors to let me in, Shattered windows and the sound of drums, People couldn't believe what I'd become, Revolutionaries wait, For my head on a silver plate, Just a puppet on a lonely string, Oh who would ever want to be king." I sang when I was cut off by someone clearing their throat. I turned to see Niall standing with his mouth hanging low and my boss standing there with a very pleased look on his face.
"How would you guys feel about doing a duet?" My boss asked looking back and forth from me to Niall. Niall said yes while I thought. I never really wanted to be in the spot light, I hated the spotlight as a matter of fact. "I mean sure why not." I said after I thought about it. It would give us time to get to know each other... again.
