Syd:

When I got home my friend and roommate, Erica, was on the couch watching tv. We have been friends since I moved here from Ireland, and she knows all about Niall. I took my shoes off and set my bag with my laptop down. "So how was work?" She asked. "Well since you asked." I said sitting down next to her.

I told her the whole situation about running into Niall and now having to sing a duet with him. "That's awesome!" Erica said as I let out a sigh and put my head back.

"No not awesome. I haven't seen or talked to him since I was nine." I said as I sat up again. I got up off the couch and went to get a shower. I had just gotten out of the shower and wrapped my towels around me when someone knocked on the door. I walked out of the bathroom to see Erica playing on her phone.

"You wanna get the door?" I asked.

"It's so far." She said waving her hand towards the door.

"I don't know how I live with you." I said as I walked over to the door. I opened the door and there stood Niall. I hurried and slammed the door in his face.

"What was that about?" Erica asked as she finally got off the couch.

"It's Niall, and I answered the door in my towels!" I said looking down at myself before running off to my bedroom to get dressed. I put on a baggy t-shirt and sweat pants and through my hair up in a messy bun before walking back to the living room.

When I got to the living room, Niall was sitting on the couch and he was having a casual conversation with Erica. "Oh you're back." Erica said standing and walking back the hall to her bedroom. I went and took Erica's place on the couch next to Niall.

"So what's up?" I asked as he just kind of stared at me.

"I was thinking about what happened today at the studio, I saw your name and I just remembered an old friend and you look exactly like her. " Niall said with a soft smile.

"I look exactly like her because I am her." I said and his eyes shot up to mine and his mouth dropped open.

"Sydney, it's really you after all this time?" He asked. I just nodded trying to keep from laughing.

"Why did you leave, one day you were with me in the backyard and the next your mom said you moved away." He said.

"My parents split when I was 9 and I left to live with my dad here in America. I just moved out here like last year though. I live with my best friend." I said and he just nodded knowing I really didn't want to talk about it.

"So how have you been?" I asked trying to end the awkward silence that filled the space.

"Good, I just dropped being in a boy band and signed over to the new record label." He said with a smile clearly happy with what he has accomplished. "What about you?" He asked me.

"Well, I lived with my dad until I finished high school and I never really went to college, I just went strait into the work force. First I was a mechanic, then a photographer, and now I work at the record company." I said smiling at how much I had accomplished as well.

"Seems like we've both been pretty busy then." He said with a small laugh.

"Yeah well that's life." I said with a smile.

Things were getting awkward again and I didn't like it. I wanted so badly to just tell him we should be best friends again like we were when I was nine, but how do you tell him that?

"I better get going." He said.

"Oh, alright." I said as I walked him to the door.

"See you tomorrow?" He asked with a hopeful look on his face.

"See you tomorrow." I said with a smile as I watched him get in his car and leave before closing the door and locking up.

"You totally like him!" Erica said from behind me causing me to jump.

"First of all stop doing that and second no I don't." I said

"Suit yourself, but lying to yourself isn't healthy."
