FIRST BOOK: ZOMBIES
A story about battling fear, grief, love, strength and the unexpected takes you through a zombie apocalypse break through in the states.
Macy was the adult in her small family. Taking care of her fifteen year old sister Mia, and...
"Come onDan. Can you just make the right turn? It's like I'm talking to a wall." Mia huffed when she finished giving Dan instructions to carefully avoid the creepy street that led to the town. For the third time.
"I'm trying alright? Those things make it kinda hard to concentrate." Dan replied gesturing towards the broken shattered cars and the hundreds of dead bodies, and I mean dead as in they were infected and now they were just a pile of mush.

The closer we got to the town the more dead bodies and crashed cars appeared. This startled all of us for a second. There were different tire marks on the street as if people were having races in here. The tracks lead right into the town which only made the whole scene more...suspicious. What was going on in there?
"It's like they had a massacre in here." Dan said under his breath slowing down to drive through the crashed cars and dead bodies.
We could see the first two houses of the town down the road, but in order to get there we had to get through the sea of dead bodies. They were scattered all around the road, but there was a clear path way up ahead as if someone had sped down the street towards the town not caring if their tires got messed up by the glass shattered around some cars.
"Stop complaining. If we don't get our stuff back we might as well die out here. Like one of them." Mia shuttered under me pointing at the bodies. She looks like she's gonna puke. Since we had the windows down we had the pleasure to smell the magnificent scent of hot gasoline and rotting flesh.
"There. Clean road. Well, mostly." Dan said as he reached the clearing in the middle of the road. He picked up the speed of the car a bit then slowed it back down once we were reaching the beginning of the town.
The horrid smell had now died down as we entered the street filled with houses and little stores. The silence was so eerie I had the need to hug myself. There was just something about this town that made me want to turn around and run. It was also so...vandalized.
The houses were damaged to the point that they looked like one of those haunted ones you saw in Halloween. The windows all shattered, doors kicked down or broken in half, black graffiti paint across every single one of them making a big 'X' in the front of each house. The 'X' took the whole front of the house which is very...extra.
There are no cars in here; I suppose they were the ones that were crashed outside the town. The tire marks though were more defined in here; making patterns and turns that even went as far as the front lawns of the houses since they were equally damage. This street was a mess.
"What the hell." Mia snapped me out of my thoughts and was now leaning forward focusing on something I couldn't see. My vision is terrible.
I leaned to the left and tried to look at whatever Mia was seeing, and obviously the sight was unexpected. Earlier I had said there were no cars in this town, but with my updated knowledge I can confirm that there are two cars. The cars were facing each other in opposites sides of the road.
Dan stopped the car a few feet away from them and we just observed the red string connecting the two. A big red truck with no door or seats was on the left side of the road while an old purple car was on the right side. Why was there a string there anyway?
"I'll be back." Dan said and got out, turning off the car and taking the keys with him. The asswipe doesn't care to take any type of weapon with him. He better run fast.
"What the hell is wrong with him? I wanted to go too." Mia said as she opened the door and wiggled under me to get out. I would like to say that I stopped her but I was too surprised. At least Mia had her gun-
Ammo. Shit. Right.
"Wait!" I said while getting out of the car. I grabbed the screwdriver next to me and closed the door.
The three of us were in front of the stringed cars. Staring. The thing looked so thin, if the wind was hard enough it looks like it would brake. I took a step back and pulled Mia with me.
"You can't use your gun. We have no more ammo in the car or anywhere for that matter. I'm going to teach you how to use my knives, but until then just use the screwdriver." I told her making sure she got the point and handed her the screwdriver.
"It's alright, I kinda knew this was coming. I've used the screwdriver before so you don't have to worry about that. Just don't use my baby." She said making sure I understood her point. The gun had to be guarded.
"What if I touch it?" Dan said, leaning over towards the string.
"Are you stupid? Don't do that." Mia grabbed his arm and pulled him back making him stumble lightly.
"How are we going to get-" I started to ask, but the roar of a very familiar engine pushed my thoughts away.
Gretchen?
I turned my head to the right and listened to it. It sounded as if the car wasn't starting. Since it was coming from the other street I had to turn myself completely and start walking towards the opening between two houses, I wanted to see if it was them. Once I was close enough to see what was happening a smile reached my lips.
Gretchen, Caleb and Lucy were out of their car looking at their engine. Gretchen had a large blood stain on her white jeans with a visible cut on her thigh. I couldn't help myself to walk directly at them. So I did.
"Need some help?" I said loud enough for them to hear. I stood a few feet away from them since I didn't want to leave Macy and Dan completely unguarded, but when I looked back and saw Mia and Dan walking directly towards me with a scowl on their face I knew that it was going to be hard to keep them calm. I wasn't even calm myself.
This is going to be a great explanation.
