Harry’s POV
“So Harry I spoke to your parents earlier this morning and they said they’ll be home tomorrow so I said you could stay here for the night tonight, if you’d like to that is?” Rachel said as I watched Maddy scoop Alberts food into his bowl.
“Thank you Mrs Kingsley,” I reply pulling at my white v-neck shirt.
“It’s no problem, and call me Rachel,” she said as Maddy walked back in the door. It was another hot day, the sun was belting down and it would be a shame to waste the heat.
“Where do you want to go today?” Maddy asks me as I take my last spoon of cereal.
“Uh how about the park? We can take Albert?” I ask.
“Actually that would be a good idea, the nurse said Albert should live out the rest of his days happily, and I know how much he likes the park,” Rachel said from the living room.
“Okay the park it is!” Maddy said racing to her bedroom to get changed. I wait for her to reappear before I disappear to my place to get changed.
I slip on a pair of peach coloured shorts and a newly washed v-neck shirt and a pair of flip-flops before I chuck a load of clothes into the washing machine. Its then I notice what a mess the house is, I’ve hardly been here at all but it wasn’t spotless to begin with even before Mum went to hospital. I write a mental note to clean up before Mum and Dad get home tomorrow.
“You ready?” I ask as Maddy comes strolling out with Albert pulling her along.
“I thought I was supposed to lead the dog, the dog isn’t meant to lead me!” Maddy yells out as Albert tugs harder at the leash.
“Come on puppy,” I pat my lap in front of Maddy and she gives me a pathetic look.
“Shut up!” she laughs. I straighten up.
“Uh would you like to help me clean my house later on?” I ask.
“Sure,” she says randomly.
“Okay cool,” This is still like a bit of a tour, I haven’t yet been everywhere and the park is about to be checked off that list.
“I would die to be back at the glow worm cave right now,” Maddy says flicking her head back.
“I like the sun,” I reply, “There weren’t days like this in England.”
“Come here boy!” I kneel and Albert comes running at me full speed, “You wouldn’t think he was 16 would you?” Maddy shakes her head.
“Nope.” She kneels down next to me and rests a hand on my knee. Maddy’s phone interrupts us and she picks up.
“Hello?” the caller ID is private.
“Where are you?” came a voice, I could hear everything when she put it on loud speaker.
“None of your business! Who is this?” Maddy demanded.
“Work it out!” someone shouted down the phone, I had my suspicions... Jenna.
“Jenna?” Maddy seemed to read my mind.
“Get away from that boy! You aren’t good enough for him!” It was definitely Jenna but then a group of laughter, more than just Jenna.
“Hang up!” I whisper.
“Harry, what do I do?” I was put on the spot but hugged her tightly.
“I won’t let her hurt you,” he repeated.
