One Team One Fight

Chapter 20

It's game day today, we are playing New Zealand and this is the first time I won't be playing with the team today. Today is different though, instead of little kids walking onto the field with us, our moms get to walk us on the field. All of the girls are excited.

We just got to the arena and everyone is putting their game clothes on. Jill wanted me to suit up as well even though I won't be playing. I just put my warm up clothes on over my jersey and shorts. Since I don't have a living mom Jill got a kid to walk out with me.

The refs came and we all walked onto the field. It was nice to see everyone so happy. Everyone's family's are also here in the stands.

I haven't really talked to anyone on the team since there family is here. Which I don't really mind. It's been months since we have been able to see our families and I don't want to pull them away from it.

After the anthems and the starters get on the field the game starts. I sit down on the bench with the other players. We all have light blue pennies on.

The whistle blows and the game begins. We are 14 minutes into the game and Kling scores. We are up 1-0. The next time we score was in the 75th minute, scored by Lori. Then we scored again in the 77th minute by Julie. Morgan scores In the 80th minute. The ref whistles and signals the end of the game with the score of 4-0.

We all head onto the field and Christen hugs me. I hug her back and we all head to the locker room. Jill gives us a pep talk before we head onto the bus and back to the hotel.

We get back to the hotel  and go to one of the meeting rooms and Jill starts talking.

"Okay ladies! Since we leave tomorrow morning for California, dinner is not mandatory tonight, I want you to spend time with your families before you you leave. Have fun!" she says

We all leave to go shower and Christen and I head up to our room. Christen grabs my hand and interlocks our fingers. I open the door and she goes and gets on the bed.

"Babe don't you have plans with your family in like a hour?" I ask

"Yeah" she says

"You better get ready". I reply changing into a pair of joggers and a sweater.

"You should come" she says

I turn around and sit next to her on the bed.

"I'll be fine, you haven't seen your family in how long? Go and have fun with your family, I know you miss them and I know they miss you." I say

"Yeah but I feel bad." She says

"Why do you feel bad?" I ask

"I don't know, maybe because you don't have any family members that are still alive!" She says

"I have a family babe this whole team is my family, even if they aren't biological. DNA doesn't make a family, love does." I respond kissing her cheek

"Fine, but we all have plans with our families, what are you going to do?" She asks

I'll probably go get some dinner and then go kick a ball around or go see a movie or something. I respond

"Okay fine, but promise me you will call if something happens or if your hurt." She says

"I will I promise". I say

"Okay good. I'm gonna get in the shower she says kissing me softly on the lips." I kiss her back and nod.

She gets in the shower and I lay down on the bed. 20 minutes later Christen walks out all dressed and she gets on the bed next to me and wraps her arms around my waist pulling me closer.

"When are your family picking you up?" I ask

"In about 15 minutes" she responds

"Okay" I say

"Can I tell my family about us?" She asks

"Yeah sure" I say

"Wait really?" She says

"Yes really"I say

"Okay" she responds getting up and putting her shoes on.

I sit up and and she comes back over to me and kisses me.

"Have fun tonight" I say

"Thanks you too" she says

She grabs her card key and walks out of the room. I change into some shorts and a tank top and I grab my ball and walk out of the hotel and headed to the park. I kicked the ball around for a while after that I walked to a sandwich place and got a sandwich. I walked back to the park and sat down at a table and ate it. After that I threw my wrappers away and just walked around. It started to get dark so I started waking back to the hotel.

I feel like someone is watching me. I turn my head and see a group of four people in all black waking behind me.

I turn back around and pull my phone out while turning the next corner to still see if they follow me or if I'm just being paranoid. I quickly call Christen and it goes straight to voicemail. I then try Hope and goes straight to voicemail. I try Alex and Tobin and and both of their phones ring but don't pick up.

"Shit" I say

I turn my head and they are following me. I keep walking. I keep trying random people but no one seems to anwser.

I keep walking turning on random streets and they are still following me. Finally my phone goes off and it's Christen. I anwser it.

Y/n! I'm so sorry! My phone was in my bag! Is everything okay? She asks

"No, four people are following me and I don't know where I am and I tried the whole team and no ones answering." I say really fast

"Okay babe I need you to relax and slow down." She says

"Okay keep waking, is there a store that is open that you can walk into?" She asks

"I don't think so, I think most stores are closed." I say

"If you find a store walk into it"  she says

"Okay" I say

"Call 911 and have them track your phone" she says

"Okay I will" I say

She hangs up and I go to call 911

Y/n says a voice

I turn around and something hard connects with the side of my head and everything goes black.
