Thea was trapped. The binds on her hands were cutting into her skin, and her thigh was burning. The queen hadn't bothered to treat it. The Rock's queen to be exact. The picture of her was forever burned into her mind, and in all of her nightmares, she had gotten hardly any sleep. Scarlet was the picture of elegance, and more beautiful than Thea could stand. She had long red hair that fell in perfect ringlets, pale skin without a flaw, teeth like pearls, natural rose-red lips, and ice-blue eyes, like deadly glaciers about to collapse and swallow you whole. No wonder she had held on to the throne for so long.

Rock's had the ability to persuade, and the more beautiful they are, they more power they have. Scarlet was very beautiful indeed. Thea didn't know why she hadn't been forced into her army already. She shut her eyes, but sleep wouldn't come. Just the haunting thoughts of Erin being hunted down and killed. She shuddered. Something moved in the corner of her dark cell. Thea stiffened. There was something, or someone here. Crouching on the balls of her feet, Thea got ready to fight. Be ready, stay alert, listen, watch. Don't give in.

Her father's battle training rang in her head. Dad. She hadn't had much time to think about her family, with being captured and all, but now she did. Scarlet killed them, I won't let her get Erin too. Shaking those thought away, she distracted herself with the unknown source of movement.

"Who's there?" Thea asked tentatively. All she heard was shuffling and then, slowly, a figure took shape. So it's a human, or maybe not... Be ready, stay alert, listen, watch. Don't give into fear. "Who is it?" she asked again, more harshly. "Don't be afraid of me, I'm not going to hurt you." Replied a voice, masculine. Thea froze. That voice, she knew that voice. "Kaito?" "Hello Thea." Her mind was racing. Kaito! Everyone thought he was dead. He was one of the kids in my class, one of the few hidden Fires. We were positive that when Scarlet came to get him he was a dead man. He wouldn't give in to her. Not even when his life was on the line. How is he alive?

He seemed to know exactly what she was thinking. "It isn't so bad, all I do is heal people. Mostly the other Fires that get hurt in the war." Thea was so baffled that she forgot what Kaito's spark was. Then it hit her. Healing! Kaito can heal people! As soon as that thought hit her, the bullet wound in her thigh became almost unbearable. Thea stumbled, landing on her knees, and then cried out as pain shot up her leg. Her vision became fuzzy, as if she were in a dream.

"Your hurt!" Kaito said. He took her in his arms and she crumbled up against him. He was warm, and she longed for nothing more than him to embrace her and encase her in his warmth. All she heard was his desperate, worried cries to her before the pain overtook her like Scarlet's eyes had once before.
