Honestly, Jasico has been the hardest ship I've ever had to talk about, because in my life, I have never had such a hard time figuring out why do I dislike this ship. And the more I find similarities with other ships I like (Percico and even Sheith from Voltron), and those I dislike that Jasico is much better than (Solangelo), the more confused I get. 

Let me get the good out of the way first. For one thing, Jason is very respectful and supportive of Nico, and I really appreciate how he shows that he wants Nico to feel accepted. And though I think that the shippers glorify Jason's protectiveness of Nico too much (you know Nico isn't a delicate flower that needs to be saved right? He can take care of himself, thank you.), I still appreciate it as a sign of companionship. Jason does not dismiss Nico the way Will does, and he respects his boundaries, thank fucking Christ. 

With that said, Jasico still doesn't appeal to me, in the least. Everything about their dynamic feels platonic to me. Even though this is an improved version of Solangelo, doing what Solangelo is trying to do and doing it right, I still don't really like Nico with an opposite. I think someone that's alike to him would suit him much better, because there would be more of a connection with him. Jason and Nico just don't click to me. They have nothing in common. I guess they're both judged by their fathers and wants these fathers to love them, but they way they're judged is so different and even then this could easily be addressed with them being just friends.

As a romantic relationship, Jasico just bores me. It's just such a safe ship with nothing to really sustain it (which is why the more uptight, we-just-want-fluff Jasico shippers bash the complex, intriguing Percico, because they think drama = problematic). And the way people ship it just feels out of character? Since when is Jason so optimistic? Percy mocked him about him being a 'ray of sunshine' in a sarcastic manner? Percy, who's easily one of the biggest pessimists of the seven? Jason constantly keeps belittling himself and fearing for the worst? And since when is he so affectionate and open? When has he ever been like this? Piper and Jason's biggest problem has always been miscommunication and lack of affection. Piper describes in Mark of Athena how Jason feels too reserved and out of reach to her. This wouldn't just randomly change because of Nico.

What could Jason even like about Nico? The guy is nothing like Piper. Piper is optimistic and imaginative, Nico sees decay and despair. They're both caring and loving in completely different ways. Any attraction seems to come from Nico's side, and why wouldn't it? Jason is like Percy, after all. He's also a hero. And Jasico isn't as dramatic as Percico, and thank God, because drama in a relationship is icky and gross, ew. Growth in a relationship? The fuck is that. Relationships have to be perfect!

Overall, I could never get into Jasico. Though I can understand why others would like it, I can't see why I should like it. At least in a romantic sense. The BROTP is great, but I'm not feeling the ship.
