Chapter Two

*Dani's POV*

Over the summer I kept a diary because I was going to give it to Kendall before he left, so he could remember all of our great memories. I'm going to read through some of them to let the memories come back to me. Where is that thing? Oh here it is! Under my bed. Okay first entry was... Aha! June 12th

Thursday, June 12

Dear Diary, well, Dear Kendall,

Do you remember what happened today? Well if you don't, here's how it went down. I woke up at home and my dad knocked on my door to tell me he was off to work. Great, another lonely day at home. I texted you because I was really lonely. It said, 'Hey! What are you up to today? Haven't seen you since graduation' I got up and put on a black pair of yoga pants with a hot pink waist band, a hot pink tank top, and hot pink flip flops. I walked downstairs and set my phone on the counter and walked to the other side of the kitchen to make some cereal. I got everything out and heard a faint 'vmm vmm' vibrate on the counter. I jerked my head around and flung myself across the room. I jumped onto the island and slid across to the other counter where I grabbed my phone and slid onto the floor. Ouch. I picked it up expecting to see your gorgeous face appear with the words, 'nothing much, wanna hang?' But to my disappointment, it was, fortunately your beautiful face, but the text read, 'having a day with mom! Wanna hang tomorrow?' I sat up and leaned against the wall by the staircase. I'm really struggling with not seeing you. Wow, that is so over dramatic. I just miss you. We should plan a date. I replied, 'sounds great! How about we hang at your place!' I slid down the wall and was laying flat on my back on the floor. I stared at the ceiling. I looked over to the table and my diary was in my chair I reached and just barely got it. I pulled out the pen and wrote this down. Hopefully you will reply. BING!¡!¡ YES! I jumped onto my phone and looked at the message. 'It is a DATE! Love you❤😘' I smiled and my heart warmed. 'I love you too❤' I set my phone down and laid back down to write all of this. I think I'm going to lay back down and wait for this dreadful day to be over.

I had to write this down for you!!! I decided to go get some groceries because we had no food at the house. When I got there I grabbed a cart and I was walking to the snacks isle when I saw something that made me feel like my heart literally broke in two. I saw you on that isle... WITHOUT YOUR MOM! What is this? Some kind of sick joke? You LIED to me?! This is so NOT okay!!! "Kendall?!" "Oh hey Dani! I was just t-" "Where is your mom? I thought you were having a day at home with mom!!!" "What? Dani, m-" "I don't wanna hear it!" "Okay, Dani even if y-" "Kendall, I'm not-" "even if you keep talking-" "KENDALL! Don't yell, we are in-" we were talking over each other. "Talking, I'm going to say this, I'm not letting you make a scene-" "Where's your mom? Huh? Is-" "like last time, I'm not lying to you," "I'm leaving Kendall!" I stormed away yelling for you to SHUT UP, SHUT UP. I looked back and saw you laughing. What is this?! I kept walking back to my cart. I grabbed my cart and turned it around to find your mom meeting you on the isle. You came here together... Why did I do this?! I pushed my cart fast to catch up to you. "Kendall! KENDALL!" You turned around laughing. I left my cart and ran to him. "I'm so sorry!" You just kept laughing and laughing. "What's so funny?" "You, you are so dramatic! Why did you make such a big deal?" You began to mock me. "Oh, oh my, Kendall, Kendall I'm so SORRY" You were really getting a kick out of it. I wasn't. I looked to Ms. Schmidt and she wasn't laughing. "Uh, Kendall... That's rude.." I pretended not to hear her whisper. You stopped laughing. "C'mon Dani, you know I was kidding." I stared at you. You looked at me confused. It was like you didn't understand how you hurt me. You looked like you just wanted to hug me. I laughed. I kind of whispered, "We are in the middle of the grocery store..." You smiled. You grabbed my hand and pulled me into a hug, kissing my head. I pulled away. Your mom walked up. "I'm gonna be free tomorrow Kendall, you have your day with Dani today. I'll go check out." You turned around and side-hugged your mom. "Thanks Momma" she smiled and pushed the cart away. You held my hand and we walked back to the cart. It's like no matter what we do its a part of a fairy tale. We are so over dramatic. I laughed out loud at the thought. "What?" "Nothing.." I assured you. You smiled. We piled up a bunch of snacks in the cart and went to check out. I payed and went to the car. "I'll drive" he offered. "Alright" I walked around from the back, where I was loading groceries, to the passenger seat. Then we went home and had a blast with snacks and a dance party, blasting music, until "all of a sudden" a slow song came on the party playlist. Nice one. I looked over to you and smiled. You stretched out your hand and I grabbed it slowly and you gracefully pulled me in. I lifted up our hands and put my other hand on your shoulder. You put your hand around my waist. We scooted closer together and swayed with the music. I laid my head down on your shoulder. You leaned your head on mine, kissed it, and put your chin on my head. We swayed back and forth, back and forth. Lucky for us that was the last song on the playlist so it ended and we just stayed there. Swaying and you spun me around, with no music, just us. I spun out, and back in. We were so close, a few inches from each other's face. I looked in your eyes and smiled. I didn't think for a moment about you leaving. For all I cared, we would be right here forever.
