The Harris Household

28 Days until Halloween

Nessy was pacing back and forth in the house the following morning. She left school just an hour after arriving – she got a bad vibe from the school and needed to get the hell out of there. She was now just pacing up a storm since she arrived home, into the night, and was still awake at almost six in the morning.

School was cancelled until Monday of next week; maybe the feelings that Wednesday was feeling would go away by then.

A headache was growing behind her eyes as she paced. It was pointless to just pace, that wasn't going to help anyone else in Sleepy Hollow. Although Nessy was born in Sleepy Hollow, it was hard to call it home when it never felt like home when she was a baby. Albany, New York was home – this wasn't home. And Harris didn't feel the same.

Entering the kitchen, Nessy started on her headache tea that worked wonders. The fourteen-year-old already knew what she was planning to do for the rest of her life, to own her own spice shop in Sleepy Hollow, and pretend she was normal.

Mixing together the 3 teaspoons of Lavender, Chamomile, Rosemary, and Mint, she began her headache remedy. She made extra leaves for brewing later – Nessy already knew she was going to need it. Letting the leaves soak in the hot water, she leaned against the counter with ease, arms crossed.

Sleepy Hollow had legends – like the legend of the Headless Horseman who took heads for a living. Heads of the targeted. However, something seemed just...off about the targets.

A middle school JV cheer coach.

An owner of a small, but popular, café.

A principal of the local high school.

Nothing was making sense to Nessy – Sleepy Hollow didn't make sense to her. She shook her head as Harris entered the kitchen, clearly hadn't slept a wink last night, much like Nessy. "Headache tea, Sean?" She offered.

"Later."

"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed." She commented, pouring herself some headache tea. Nessy glanced to Sean, he looked...uneasy. "This is about Mrs. King, isn't it?"

"Is that the reason why you came home?"

"Partially."

"Partially?"

Nessy sipped on the tea, feeling her headache start to decrease. "I felt something...about one of the students there yesterday."

"Which one?"

Wednesday honestly didn't want to tell him which, because he was already interested in one. The very one that Nessy got the feeling about. "I'd rather not say. We have different thoughts about this student." Nessy said, walking off towards the living room.

"Nessy, if this is about Kat,"

"Of course it's about our next door neighbor. The moment I was introduced to her, Sean, she isn't like me. She isn't like anyone in this town." Nessy said.

"What are you saying? She's evil?"

"The opposite, actually." Nessy looked outside the window to the Williams house. The fact that when she spoke to Kat, she got a good feeling from the girl but when she talked with Felix and Remy, they had bad feelings. Kat was different. "I'm going to work on the garden and make some teas for the grieving families." Wednesday spoke, walking away from the window with her tea.
