The Williams Household
Jarred Williams was the first downstairs that morning, entering the kitchen with his book bag and duffle for football. He looked around, looking for Peter. "No dad?" Jarred asked. Placing them by the doorway of the kitchen, his mother faced him. She was struggling to make the waffles that Peter usually made on Tuesday for his kids.
"He's been called out since last night."
"Need help?" Jarred offered, seeing the smoke something from the waffle machine behind her. Marie shook her head until she cursed loudly, hissing at the sudden pain from the burning machine. Jarred stood there, watching the scene. There was a reason why their mother never cooked – she sucked.
"What the hell is that smell?" Tabitha huffed as she entered the kitchen, dressed to impress another day. Her brown bag was loosely around her shoulders, wide eyed at her mother. "Uh, I think we'll just get breakfast from the Black Cat." Tabitha stated, slowly backing away.
Jarred had to agree with his twin.
"It's Kat's favorite,"
"And we must cater to her every need, huh?" Tabitha snapped bitterly. "Besides, she hates waffles." She added, watching as their mother's head snapped up to face her.
"What?" Marie gasped, nearly dropping the bowl with the batter. "She always eats them."
"Tabbie's right, ma. She doesn't want you to know she actually hates them. Her favorite are chocolate chip pancakes with strawberry jam on top." Jarred explained, crossing his arms.
"You're kidding."
"Nope."
"Your father needs to tell me these things – but he makes you waffles on Tuesdays." Marie said. "Yeah, when we were ten, ma. Our breakfast preferences have changed over the years." Tabitha commented as laughter came down the stairs. Glancing towards them, she saw Remy Martin, one of Kat's little friends – a total bitch – and Kat coming down the stairs.
While Remy was brightly colored, looking like she was walking the runway, Kat was in all black.
"God, do you know any other colors?" Tabitha groaned.
"I didn't realize that my fashion sense was hindering your day. I'm sorry, next time I'll call you when you don't look like a slut." Kat said, smirking in the direction of her sister. Tabitha glared at Kat.
"Katarina! Language!"
"You just dropped the f-bomb in front of Jarred."
"That's different."
"How?" Kat was facing her mother, arms crossed against her chest. Marie couldn't help but look at the outfit her youngest was wearing – black collared tunic with black flare jeans, and black Doc Martin's. Not to mention the choker with a moon charm.
"What's that in your nose?" Marie asked, approaching her daughter. Kat went to hide behind Jarred with Marie took her face, making her turn her head. The star nose stud was present. "When did you get this?" She demanded.
"Jarred signed the permission slip!"
"You said dad said the OK!"
"He did! But he forgot to sign, so I got you. And I knew you'd take me." Kat said quickly. Remy bit down on her nail, watching the Williams family with ease. It was fun to watch the drama before getting into it. "He signed off on Jarred's tattoo at 16." Kat pointed the blame quickly to someone else.
