Cheer Coach's Household

26 Days until Halloween

Kat stormed over to Remy who was stretching for today's practice. Balancing on one leg with the other one nearly against her shoulder, Kat gave her a hard shove to the ground. "Ow! What the hell, Kat?!"

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Tell you what?" Remy grumbled, standing up. She brushed off the grass shards from her cheer shorts.

"That Harris was a mental patient. You know everything and everyone in this town, but you fail to mention that Harris was a Phelps patient?" Kat growled, eyes narrowed, looking for blood.

Remy rolled her eyes, mirroring Kat. "It would have been more fun with you finding out. Besides, the only reason I know is because my mom is a nurse there. She told my father, I eavesdropped. Harris is honestly harmless, Kat, just stupid shit about the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow was back. Not the first time someone had said that in Sleepy Hollow." Remy explained.

"Still."

Remy honestly didn't understand Kat's fascination with the Harris family. They were just all freaks that thought one day instead of the normal way. Whenever Remy went by their house on her way to school or a daily walk with the dog when she was younger, she always heard, smelled, and saw weird things.

Mrs. Harris was always cooking up something new – things that probably shouldn't have been combined.

Mr. Harris was always in the garden, tending to the plants that Remy had no idea how they survived the harsh winters New York got some years.

Then there was Sean, the loner type kid who didn't have friends. Whenever Remy saw Sean, he was always by himself with no one to talk to. However, she assumed he just didn't like people, until one day. The day he went "crazy" or so she thought. Harris was talking nonsense about the Horseman coming back to Sleepy Hollow – it wasn't the first time someone accused the Horseman being back, it was Sleepy Hollow. But something seemed...real.

Remy couldn't explain it, but she didn't believe it either. Nothing made sense about the Harris family, and when the car accident happened – everything went back to normal. No mention of the Horseman, no crazy people running around, no more beheadings – everything was quiet.

"Look-" The redhead was cut short when their coach came outside, ordering the team to come together. Kat and Remy turned their attention to the coach as she went over the routine to them. Kat stood straight, listening carefully. The coach always loved Kat's personality – it was much like hers when the coach was in school. Kat was in line for the captain once Tabitha graduated that year.

Remy stared at Kat as she did the routine perfectly; even her sister gave her praise over the excellence. Crossing her arms, Remy glared her way at Kat, waiting her turn at the routine. The two male cheerleaders stood off to the side once it began Remy's turn.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Kat pull something out of her tank top. It was the star charm that Remy saw when Mrs. King was beheaded. Everything went blank in Remy's head as the music began to blast, telling her it was her turn at the routine with the guys – she was a flier and needed to be on time or else.

She wasn't on time.

Remy fell out of Jensen's grasp, having her ankle being held by Ian as she landed flat on her face. She hissed at the sudden pain shooting through her body. "Martin! What the hell?!"
