The Bet: Soul Eater Fanfic

The Problem

"What's your little problem now?" Liz groaned.

".....Maka likes someone else...." I told them.

"Oh yeah?" Liz said in a tone that made it obvious she didn't believe me. "Who?"

"S-she didn't tell me." I told them. "Both of them for some odd reason come to me to get things off of their chests, and one of the things she told me was that she liked someone else, but she refused to tell me who."

"It's not like it matters that much." Black Star shrugged. "By the time the bets over, I'm sure her feelings for whatever dweeb she likes will be gone and replaces with feelings for Soul.

"You never know. Just saying, it could either be a big problem for you guys at the end of all this or not. But apparently she's liked this guy for over a year." I told them.

Maka's POV

"Hey Maka?" I heard Soul say next to me, and I turned my head to look at him."

"Yeah Soul?" I replied.

"Can you promise me that if we break up, which I'm not saying we will, that we won't let all of it come between us?" Soul said a little red. "I mean like, so we don't have to find a new partner and everything."

"Okay." I said, smiling at him. I felt a bit of relief from that, considering that was probably the biggest problem with the bet, was that I didn't want a new weapon.

I actually felt a bit jealous sometimes when he would get random notes from girls wanting to be his meister. Not jealous in an I like him way, but jealous in a sense that if things were to come between us he had so mamy girls lined up that could be his meister, yet I would be struggling to find a weapon as good as Soul.

But I guess him making me promise that meant he didn't want another meister.

Black Star's POV

"Hey, you know what I just realized?" Liz said.

"What?" I asked.

"We set the time for the bet to be over right on the day of the DWMA party." Liz told me. "I didn't even think about that until now."

"To be honest, neither did I." I replied. "Hey, I guess that party will either make or break it for them."

"Yeah. I have a good feeling about it, though." Liz said. "We just need to figure out who she likes and make sure he doesn't get in the way of everything."

Sorry this chapter is short. I just wanted to update while I had the chance, and I couldn't figure out where to go with that last conversation after that anyways.
