The darkness of the brambly wilderness surrounded them.

"I reckon that we should camp here for the night." Cindy said.

"Really ?" Hazel asked, nervously inspecting her surroundings.

"Don't worry, this place is safe. Everything is going to be fine." Cindy said.

"Unless, the wolves come your way." Ced added.

Hazel gulped.

" Stop messing with her!" Cindy chided.

Ced shrugged ,"It's the truth. Nothing good ever happens to wanderers in the woods. I am sure you have heard the stories."

"CEDRON !" Cindy punched him.

" No, it's okay. I am not scared." Hazel said, trying not to look scared.

Ced smirked. Poor human!

"I will find us something to eat. Don't fancy dying of starvation, before the quest begins, do we?" Cindy said.

"I will light a fire." Ced said. Both of them looked at Hazel.

She shrugged.

" Umm...Hazel, you can stay here with Ced." Cindy said, before leaving.

" Can I help you ?" Hazel asked.

"Yes, look around and you might find some twigs lying here and there." Ced said.

A few minutes later, the twigs brought, the fire lit, both of them sat down near the hearth.

Ced looked at Hazel, the tiredness in her faraway eyes was evident, as she gazed at the rapid flames.

" Err...you can rest. I'll take the first watch." Ced offered.

" Oh no! I don't feel like sleeping. " she said.

There were a few minutes of silence.

" I don't understand. What is the Mirror of Reality and why is it so important?" Hazel asked, finally.

"You don't know?" Ced asked, taken aback.

" No one ever bothers to tell me anything, you see." she chuckled.

Ced sighed, tired at the thought of the long explanation he would have to give.

"I am sure you are aware of the tale of the Beauty and the Beast ?"

" Yes."

"When Beauty was living in the Beast's captive, he was a most generous host, taking care of all her needs. The Beast came to her with the proposal of marriage on several occassions, only to be rejected each time.

"Every night, Beauty dreamt of a handsome prince. He claimed to have had his heart broken by her..."

" She did not realise her love for the Beast." Hazel said.
