I kept my promise the next day, coming back to the mental hospital. Rain came along too because I needed her to get through the front desk. She said that she was willing. Her face said that she rather be Prom dress shopping.

My mother was awake this time, at her desk, reading. She turned around when she heard us enter, looking at me with a smile and then to Rain.

"Who is she?" she asked, sounding a little worried.

Her name is Rain, she is a friend.

I took a piece of paper out of my pocket. I unfolded it and placed it on her desk. It was an artwork that I have been spending most of my time on, ever since my father left. She always dreamed of going to Paris. So I drew the most cliche scenery of Paris, with the Eiffel tower and everything. With watercolors, it seemed to come to life.

"Paris?" she asked with a small voice.

I nodded. We're going to go one day. Together. But you need to get better.

I took the painting to the wall, pinning it there. Is here ok? She nodded. Everyday, you look at this and you tell yourself that you are going to get better.

"Ok." she replied, looking at Rain nervously. "How's school?"

Teachers have been ignoring me. Ms. Lou...

"That bitch," my mother interrupted me with a smile.

It was nice to see her smiling again.

Rain actually helped shut her up. Never called on me after the first month. Also, Prom is on Saturday.

She looked surprised. "Already? It was like school just started. Who are you going with?"

I side glanced at Rain, grinning. She seemed to get the message, another smile forming on her face. She smiled twice within an hour.

"Well, you two have a great time and don't stay up too late."

Bye mom. I signed, walking towards the door. I'll be back tomorrow.

She went back to her book as Rain and I walked out of her room. "She seems to be a lot better." Rain commented.

Yeah.
