It felt strange to be able to hear everything. The beeping noise kept me aware of my surroundings as I laid in my comfortable bed without the leather straps cutting into my wrists. Then I realized I was in a coma. I mean, I don't really think coma patients really are able to recall their experience so well but somehow, It was like my mother had come to check up on me in the middle of the night to see if I was asleep. I usually wasn't, my eyes closed, tracking where she was by the sound of her footsteps.

A thing was attached to my forearm which really bothered me. Needles and anything pokey like that always scared me. Imagining a tube inserted under my skin only makes me want to barf. Good thing I was unconscious.

"Electric shock," I hear someone say, their voice muffled but clear enough to comprehend.

"Is he going to be ok?"

My heart skipped a beat. I recognized that voice. Yet, I couldn't wake up no matter how hard I tried.

A chair was pulled to the side of my bed. Then there was the hands holding mine. They were the same pair of hands that I have experienced before, the long slender fingers that were always warm and inviting.

"Why have you been so careless?" she asked me.

It broke my heart that I couldn't answer her in any way.

"Please tell me, Aiden, was it really your fault? They say you shocked yourself."

With her thumb, she rubbed the back of my hand, her touch sending sparks all the way up my arm. I so desperately wanted to open my eyes, just so that I could see her again.

"If they're doing something to you, Aiden," she sounded like she was on the verge of tears, "tell me, please, for me, Aiden. I want to see you well."

After a long moment of silence, the chair squeaked against the tiled floor. Her steps soften as she walked out the door.

Don't leave me, Rain.

I finally woke up, realizing it was too late. I was back in my room in the school.
