I came back to my secret place the next day and the next. It became my favorite place to draw. It became a habit of mine to just draw portraits of Rain whenever I felt like it. I really didn't understand why though. She had a shitty boyfriend that she loved. It was the only thing that got me through the long and exhausting days.
What I wasn't expecting was Ian to find me this early.
"You fucking little shit! I told you to keep it up!" I heard him before I even saw him.
He came, racing towards me, his face red from rage. I flinched, trying to shove my drawings into the backpack before he was able to see them. He finally reached me, grabbing the backpack from my hands and flinging it behind him, the papers spraying all over the ground. Grabbing a fist full of my t-shirt, he shoved me over my bench, into the bushes. He then proceeded to punch me over and over again.
"She fucking broke up with me," he mumbled under my breath.
I somehow managed to escape from under his fury fists, standing up to wipe the blood off my face.
What does that have to do with me?
He pointed a shaky finger at me. "Stop with your fucking hand waving."
You stupid jerk, I have nothing to do with this. I continued to back up as he took steps towards me.
"I'm warning you." he growled.
Anger bubbled from within me. Just looking at him made me mad. Fuck you.
Wrong move. Even with idiots like him, everybody knows what it means to point a middle finger at somebody. He charged, screaming. So naturally, I ran from any potential danger. He caught up to me easily, him being a chubby football player and me a scrawny pale little boy. Instead of punching me, he pointed me down, grabbing my neck with his sausage like fingers. I couldn't breathe. My head felt like it was going to explode. The worst part was that Ian looked happy a wide smile spread across his face.
"Ian!" A teacher had come.
He yanked Ian off of me, the grip from my neck finally gone. I gasped for breath, sitting up as best as I could. I watched as the coach dragged Ian away.
"You could have killed that boy!" He screamed at him. "I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to suspend you."
Not far away, a girl sat on the grass, looking through my drawings. Her eyes darting across the page, absorbing everything. She looked up, her brown eyes sparkling with tears.
"You love me," she says, nearly whispering.
My face glowing red, I ran away as fast as I could.
