Today is Halloween, and while Jack is hosting a party tonight, I'm skipping it to scare kids in the neighborhood with the boys.

I head downstairs and find Freddie at home since my dad is on a business trip. He's bringing his niece over later before she heads to a party. He mentions she goes to my school and is obsessed with One Direction.

I greet Freddie, "Good morning, Fred." He smiles back.

"Morning, Anastasia! Are you ready for Halloween?" he asks.

I smirk and reply, "Of course! The boys and I are going to scare people. That's what Halloween is all about, right?"

"Just make sure no one gets hurt or has a heart attack," he warns.

I roll my eyes.

Seeing the clock shows 7:40 AM, I say, "I'm off. Thanks for the tasty breakfast, and I can't wait to meet your niece."

Just as he's about to respond, his phone rings. I grab my motorbike and helmet and speed off.

When I arrive at school, it looks festive with Halloween decorations and students in costumes. The student council is handing out flyers for Jack's party, with Stephanie, the president, leading the charge. For once, she's dressed in skinny jeans and a tank top, her hair in a bun.

"Hi Ana, here's a flyer. See you at the party!" she says, handing me a flyer with a fake smile.

"I've got better things to do than attend a party hosted by a bunch of sluts," I reply, flipping my hair and walking away.

Brandon wraps his arm around my waist. "Someone's being naughty."

"They asked for it," I shrug.

The boys arrive, all dressed up, including Arlene.

"Hi BFF! Are you going to the party tonight?" she asks.

I shake my head, and she pouts, "Boo, you're a party pooper."

"I have plans with the boys," I wink at her.

Brandon frowns. "Not that kind of plan," I say, kissing him on the cheek.

Jordan joins us. "It's Halloween, and tonight Bloody Mary will appear."

I smirk.

Jacob asks, "I'm going to scare some freshmen. You in, Jordan?"

"Wouldn't miss it for the world, baby," Jordan replies before heading off with Jacob.

I shake my head and walk inside, where Halloween posters and decorations adorn the walls. At my locker, a clown suddenly pops out, scaring me. I scream and jump back, earning giggles from passing girls. I hate clowns. A note is stuck to it:

"Happy Halloween, Ana! Do you like my prank? Yours truly, THE PRANKSTER."

Carlos immediately comes to mind. How dare he?

Brandon laughs. "Carlos is really good; I can't even scare you."

I shrug.

The bell rings, and I head to Chemistry without Carlos, who's busy with his Halloween prank. Every year he pulls a big stunt—last year, he dressed as a killer, and in sophomore year, he scared a teacher into a heart attack.

As we walk to class, I ask Justin, "What do you think Carlos is planning this year?"

He shrugs. "It's going to be huge; after all, it's his last year here." I nod.

I take my seat in the lab, ignoring my classmates. The teacher walks in and announces, "Since today is Halloween, we'll just review what we did last class."

My classmates breathe a sigh of relief. The teacher sits behind her desk, takes roll, and opens her laptop. Suddenly, the lights start to blink, and eerie noises come from the speakers, frightening mostly the girls.

A jock jokes, "That's Bloody Mary coming to get us, one by one," knocking on the desk.

One girl starts to tremble, her asthma acting up.

The terrified teacher suggests, "Why don't one of you take her to the nurse's office?"

I smirk—well done, Carlos.

The blinking stops, and banging pans echo through the speakers, scaring everyone. The lights go out, plunging us into darkness, and screams erupt around me.

"Okay, everyone, leave in an orderly fashion," the teacher commands, but chaos ensues as everyone fights to get out.

Finally outside, I see my friends waiting by the cafeteria entrance.

"Now that's how it's done," Carlos says, beaming with pride.

The principal's voice comes over the speaker: "Everyone, please go to the cafeteria or the field and stay there until we sort out this problem."

I head to the cafeteria and sit with Brandon and Jack.

"Wow, this prank is way better than last year," Brandon remarks.

"Yeah, thanks to the prankster for getting me out of an algebra quiz," Jack adds.

Carlos just smirks, crossing his arms and lounging back in his seat.

"Well, he's right here," I say, smiling at Jack.

"Really?" Jack looks around, stopping at Carlos, who is grinning at us.

Jack shakes his hand. "Thanks, man! I got an extra two days to revise for the quiz." Carlos nods.

Three hours later, the electricity is back, and it's lunchtime. We stayed in the cafeteria, where I'm playing on my iPod, listening to music, and playing truth or dare with the guys.

Stephanie and her crew are busy planning the party instead of addressing the electricity issue. Why did they vote for her as president anyway?
