Brandon's POV
Jack is throwing a party tonight, and I wanted Ana to join me, but she dislikes parties and has plans with her guy friends.
I'm not jealous, but I can't help feeling frustrated that she spends so much time with him. I know he's been her friend long before I came along.
After school, once Ana leaves, I head to the field for a run.
Most guys are getting ready for the party, but I already have my costume picked out. I'm a prince, while my two friends are musketeers. Ana was supposed to be the princess. I sigh as I jog, thinking about her. Nikki has been around a lot lately, trying to get my attention and make Ana jealous.
Just then, Nikki approaches me while I take a water break in her cheerleader uniform.
"Hi Brandon, I really need to talk to you," she says.
"Well, we are talking, aren't we?" I reply, crossing my arms.
"I'm sorry for hurting you, Brandon. I regretted it as soon as I said it. When you started dating Ann, my feelings for you came back, and I just want to be with you," she says, sighing.
"No way, Nikki. You hurt me once; I won't make that mistake again. I'm in a relationship, so move on!" I snap, then jog away, leaving her behind.
I've learned my lesson: don't trust girls like Nikki. She's gone by the time I finish my lap, but I'll see her at the party.

I arrive at Jack's house, which is slightly smaller than mine but perfect for a party. With no school tomorrow, I plan to get drunk tonight. I step inside, and the music is so loud it feels like my eardrums might burst.
I spot Jack and Blake in their musketeer costumes, dancing with two random girls. In the kitchen, people are doing body shots. I grab a beer and look around, seeing couples making out and others going in and out of rooms upstairs.
I notice Nikki flirting with a guy—Mason, I think. She's wearing a short silver dress with her hair down and a crown. He's got his hand on her butt, and they start making out.
I roll my eyes just as another girl pushes Nikki away, causing her to almost fall. I catch her before she hits the floor, and she looks up at me, surprised and smiling.
I pull her up and glare at Mason and the girl who are now all over each other.
"Brandon, my man, you made it!" Jack says, slapping me on the back.
I chug my first beer and grab another, downing it quickly.
"Let's see who can drink the most. If I win, you owe me free lunch for a month," Jack challenges.
I smirk. "And if I win, I get your new Xbox."
He groans. "But I just got that! Fine, deal." We shake hands.
Let the games begin—no one can out-drink me, except Blake.

Anastasia's POV
I'm at home, waiting for Freddie's niece to arrive. The doorbell rings, and when I open it, my smile fades. It's Nikki, the last person I expected.
"What are you doing here?" I hiss.
"To see my uncle and meet his boss's daughter. What about you? Begging for food?" she retorts.
"No, I actually live here. I'm your uncle's boss's daughter," I reply.
She chokes on her drink. "You? Mr. Montez is your father? Who would believe a nerd lives a rich life? Why didn't you transfer to a private school?"
"Because I didn't want to, and I wouldn't have met the boys," I say.
"Or Brandon," she sighs.
"Why don't you let Nikki in, Anastasia?" Freddie asks.
He can't be serious.
I slam the door shut. "No way! Nikki is one of the girls who bullied me and wants my boyfriend. There's no way I'm letting her in!" I dash upstairs to my room.

The boys arrive around 7 PM. Normally, I'd stay home to hand out candy, but this year is different.
I dress up in a scary costume to scare the kids and get free candy. Carlos is the first to give out candy. The doorbell rings, and we hear, "Trick or treat."
Carlos opens the door with his fake hook and screams, sending the six-year-olds running and dropping their bags.
One screams, "Mommy!" as they dash down the block.
I laugh and high-five Carlos, who collects the four bags of candy. Five minutes later, two boys, about eight years old, come to the door.
Jordan, the pro at scaring people, sneaks around back with a fake chainsaw. I hear screams, and when I open the door, the boys are sprinting in opposite directions.
Jacob clutches his stomach, laughing.
This continues for two hours, and we end up with a lot of candy. We sit down to watch a horror movie while munching on it. During a scary moment, someone jumps in front of the TV, scaring us all.
Jordan screams like a girl and jumps into Carlos's lap, who pushes him off. Justin and Jacob grab my arms, trembling.
The lights flickered on, and Freddie burst out laughing. "You should have seen your faces—priceless!"
Jordan groaned, "Haha, very funny," as he got up from the floor. Justin, realizing he was still holding onto me, let go, and I could have sworn I saw him blush.
"I have a brilliant idea," I suggested. "Let's scare everyone at Jack's party. I'll text Arlene to ensure our plan goes smoothly."
They all nodded in agreement.
Stephanie wouldn't know what hit her.

Arlene's POV
Anne's plan is genius. All I need to do is grab everyone's attention, take out my mirror, say "Bloody Mary" three times, and Anne will handle the rest.
The DJ is a friend from freshman year. I leaned in and said, "In the next five minutes, stop the music." He nodded.
I received a text from Anne.
Best friend: We're ready out here; now do your job.
Me: Okay, I talked to the DJ already.
I signaled the DJ, and he stopped the music. Everyone turned to watch. I took out my mirror and spoke into the microphone, asking, "Do you believe in Bloody Mary?"
Some shouted, "No, that's just make-believe!"
I smirked, "Well then, let's see, shall we?"
I opened my makeup mirror and said, "Bloody Mary. Bloody Mary. Bloody Mary."
Gasps filled the room as the lights went out, followed by screams. When the power returned, the front door swung open, revealing Anne dressed as Bloody Mary.
"Run! It's Bloody Mary!" I yelled, capturing everyone's attention.
Panic erupted as people screamed and dashed around. Bloody Mary advanced, and we heard loud banging. Some broke windows to escape, while others fainted or tripped over each other.
Bloody Mary grabbed a boy by the back of his shirt, and he literally peed his pants. I laughed as I dashed into the backyard, where some were taking pictures and climbing over the fence.
I spotted Luke hiding behind a tree, laughing. This was the best Halloween ever. I had seen Brandon earlier, but he disappeared with a girl who looked just like Nikki. I couldn't remember clearly since I was a little drunk.
