"tyler!" melanie said happily as she saw the door open. he didn't open it all the way, because he had suspected something else, which is exactly what he got.

he only poked his head out and saw that there were three more guys outside with melanie. since melanie was in choir, she had friends from there. like the two best singers in the class, calum and luke and then the drummer from band class, ashton.

tyler felt embarrassed, because behind the door he was wearing a skirt. his parents didn't care that he was feminine, but they would car if he was gay. they were very confusing people, but tyler came from that world so he learned how to cope with it.

he looked at melanie and back at the three boys, with desperation for the judgment to go away before it would even happen.

then he noticed luke wearing the neon pink skirt he was with a flower crown. and he noticed calum's sticker on his face with a heart and a rainbow, and he noticed how ashton was looking at calum.

'they're cool,' melanie mouthed to tyler with a smile.

tyler took a second to unlock the door fully before reopening it and showing his skirt and the same jacket he wore everyday. he even went to sleep in the damn thing.

"awe," luke said instantly, "you're so cute!"

tyler blushed and looked at his feet, "w-what did y-you need me f-for?"

"well," calum said, taking tyler's hand and starting to drag him to the car parked outside, "we're gonna take you to have some fun for once."

"w-why? w-where?"

"just a little get together," ashton said, meeting his eyes to his phone screen when they all got into melanie's light pink convertible she got for her sixteenth birthday.

"w-what'd you mean?"

"you'll see.."

"you had to invite them?" josh groaned at his cousin, taking another joint and lighting it with his lighter.

"don't worry, josh," michael said, stealing the one that brendon had just made and taking a drag onto it. this was a regular thing for them, pot and drinks and having a group with them. it was their regular saturday. "i brought someone for you, too."
