Lilly's POV
The gunshot rang around the clearing and the man below me went limp. Grim satisfaction surged over me. He'd killed my baby. He'd left us alone to come attack this place. Now Meghan was dead because of him. I gritted my teeth as a few angry tears slid out of my eyes. She had only been eight years old. And now she was gone.
He'd shot her in the head, right in front of me. He'd finished her off...
And he'd decapitated a man. An old man. He wasn't what I thought he was. I closed my eyes and more tears slipped out. What had happened to Tara? Did she even know that Meghan was dead? What about Alisha?
The groaning of walkers made my eyes fly open. I had to go. Now. That gunshot would attract them for miles. I gripped the gun tightly, and looked around. If I ran, right now, I could make it to the woods. I sent one last glare to Brian's body, then took off towards the woods.
When I reached the safety of the trees, I slowed down a little bit. "Tara!" I yelled. I had to find her. She couldn't be dead. If she was... I hoped I had a bullet for myself. I couldn't face this world alone. I picked up the pace and began running again. I jogged past unfamiliar trees.
"Tara!" I shouted. Maybe she'd be out here. Maybe...
I jogged past a tree, and something rustled behind me. I whirled around to see what it was. But before I could react, a biter stumbled forward and rammed into me. I shrieked as I fell backwards. I landed flat on my back, and the biter fell on top of me.
"Get off of me!" I yelped and kicked it. It didn't budge. It crawled forward and moved on top of me. I used my arms to hold it up.
It growled and I flinched. I tried throwing it off, but it was moving too much. I tried my best to get the bastard off of me but I couldn't budge. Then out of no where I heard a gunshot and heard "LILLY!" As I looked over to see Tara running toward me. I was so excited to see her she helped me up as we started talking about the prison.
"Where's Meghan?" Tara suddenly asked.
I felt my eyes sting, and I shook my head. Her hands flew to her mouth and tears slid down her cheeks. I cried too, but I knew we couldn't mourn her right now. There were too many biters around. After we stopped crying, we headed towards the prison.
We were on our way to the prison, just to see it's been destroyed beyond repair. There were too many of those things too. We killed all the biters we could but without a group it was hopeless. We searched the prison to see it has been abandoned. But there was a baby's carrier there full of blood. Could something have happened to the baby? I was so confused, but I had to stay focused.
We started walking the roads, hoping to find a car. When suddenly, we heard what sounded like a baby growling. We didn't know how to respond so we kept walking. I looked around to see the source of the noise. Crawling in the road in front of us was a baby. It had light brown skin and curly black hair. I wondered who's it was.
I beckoned to Tara, and I saw her eyes soften.
"Hey!" She called. "Over here, darling!"
The baby stopped crawling and turned around slowly. When I saw it's face, my heart dropped into my chest.
Her eyes were blue and clouded over. She snapped her small teeth as she began crawling towards us.
"Oh my God..." Tara choked out.
A hand flew to my mouth and I let out an involuntary cry. That poor thing...
The baby growled again and started crawling towards us. I watched it in horror.
"Tara." I whispered, removing my hand from my mouth.
"I got it." She still sounded shocked. I saw her pull her gun out and load it.
"No!" I cried. "We can't!"
My sister turned to me. "She isn't alive anymore! We can't keep her like this!"
I frowned. "Tara..."
She raised the gun toward the infant, and I moved to stop her.
"Get back!" She exclaimed and pushed me. I landed on my rear and shrieked in shock. I saw her raise her gun again, and I covered my ears and squeezed my eyes shut.
I heard a muffled gunshot. "Oh God." I mumbled. "OhGodohGodohGodohGod..."
I felt a hand grab my arm and I screamed.
"Lilly!" I heard Tara yell. I opened my eyes and looked up with her. Then I removed my hands from my ears.
"It's over with." Tara said, her voice lacking emotion. "Now come on."
