CHAPTER SIXTEEN: THE UNPLEASANT SURPRISE

I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders when I leave that English class.

I am fairly confident with how the test went. There were just a couple of random questions that I wasn’t quite sure about the answer, but other than that, I think I’m going to ace it! That’s like a big step from the F I would’ve originally gotten. Thank god the teacher had a little sympathy or else she would probably be burying my grave right now with my parents.

I keep talking about my parents like they’re murderers and trained assassins but I want you guys to know that I’m only exaggerating like a lot. My parents would never dare touch me because they know I am in pretty good shape. Oh yeah, I am hundred and ten pounds of pure muscles and rage.

I should probably warn Aaron about that, because I have a feeling that someday I will end up hitting him. Because the temptation to do so is getting stronger and stronger with every encounter he and I have.

After throwing my notebooks in my locker and grabbing my purse (more like a bag, but who’s complaining) and my car keys, I get out of the school and walk towards my car. Leaning on it was a tall blond haired guy, dressed in his usual checked shirt with his pale ripped jeans and cowboy boots. What the hell was he still doing here?

I furrow my eyebrows and stop in front of him. He lifts his head up from his phone, on which he was playing a game of Clash of Clans and smirks at me. Why is he always smirking? Not everything in life is amusing.

“What are you still doing here?” I ask him unlocking my car and throwing my bag inside of it.

He kicks himself off of the car and makes his way around the car to enter in the passenger side.

I roll my eyes at him. “Of course Aaron, I would love to give you a ride home”, I say getting inside the driver’s side and closing the door behind me.

After starting the car and putting my seatbelt on, I turn to Aaron in order to know why I was now obligated to give him a ride home, and why he waited for 2 hours in order to get it.

“Aaron, would you be kind enough to explain to me why I kindly agreed to give you a ride home?” I ask him with a sweet and innocent smile on my face.

Since my usual method of screaming at him and calling him names doesn’t really work when it comes to getting information out of Aaron, I decide to switch my method to a sweetly sarcastic approach.

My name’s Adria Tanner ok, a normal, calm and collected approach isn’t something I do. It’s just not like me. Sue me.

He lets out a huff of laughter and crosses his arms over his chest shaking his head. “The chemistry teacher gave me a detention after school and I had no other way to get back home”, he responds.

See, I knew my new approach would work. He explained to me everything without me having to ask him like forty-three times. You can pat yourself on the back Adria.

“Last time I checked, your legs were working fine”, I say, putting the car in reverse and backing out of my parking spot.

He lets out an annoyed groan. “It’s not like I’m going to make you spend more gas by driving with you at your place. I live right next door”, he says, surprising me with his sudden cold response.
