CHAPTER TWO: THE MEETING

"The utilities at Adria's school are amazing. Your son will love it there", my mom says to the stranger, now called our neighbour, that is currently sitting in our living room.

My parents and Alana, our neighbour, have been talking in our living room for about an hour. I have to say, the conversation is pretty awkward. Well why wouldn't it be? This is a conversation between two parties that have never met before in their life.

I have to admit though, the middle aged lady, probably the mother of the family, looks pretty nice and friendly. But the guy doesn't look like he gives a fuck about us. Well to be honest, I can't blame him. I probably look like that right now too. I have been trying to convince my mom to let me excuse myself, but she won't let me; something about being polite. I don't know how leaving to go in my bedroom is so impolite. My facial expressions right now are probably more impolite than leaving.

"That's wonderful", Alana says after sipping on the glass of water that my mom had provided her. "But I was wondering where Aaron could take the bus to get there".

My mom waves her hand. "Don't be silly, Adria here will give him a ride".

After fully realizing what my mom has offered, I snap my head to the side and she is smiling at me. I try to shake my head in the most subtle way possible but I don't think I achieved my goal since I hear someone huff out a laugh beside me; probably Aaron.

My mom shoots daggers through her eyes at mine and glares at me. I realise just now that there is no way I am getting myself out of this one. Unless I jump on an airplane tonight to go to Australia to meet a hot Aussie model and we would get married and live happily ever after.

I slump my shoulders in defeat and turn my head away from my glaring mother.

"Mom, may I be excused?" I ask her again in hope that she will finally agree this time.

She shakes her head. "How many times do I have to tell you?" she asks getting annoyed by my babbling mouth.

"What if it told you it was for school purposes?" I ask her hesitantly.

She lowers her head in defeat and points towards the stairs. I get up rapidly from my seat and kiss her on the cheek before running up the stairs and into my bedroom closing the door behind me.

I grab my laptop from my night side table and sit down on my window couch with my laptop on my lap. I have to figure out a way to know what happens in the end of my English class book. And what better way to learn stuff than my good friend Wikipedia.

As I am reading the plot for the book, a loud knock on my door makes me jump in surprise; and do to my clumsiness, my laptop falls on the ground next to the window couch.

                "Shit!"

I bend down to grab my laptop, only to fall face first on the floor, with my legs still lying on the couch. Why do I have to be born with an awkward kind of clumsiness?

I remove my legs from the couch and pull myself into a sitting position on the floor.

"What do you want mom?" I ask annoyed. She is really pissing me off today. If she's coming here again to check the messiness of my room, I am going to close the door on her face.
