CHAPTER NINETEEN: THE DENIALS
"So let me get this straight", Aubrey starts, with a confused look on her face, "Aaron's mom walked in on you and him, while you were wearing nothing but his t-shirt and a pair of night shorts, in the middle of a dirty party kitchen and smiled?"
I let out a nervous huff of laughter, still not believing it myself. "She only smiled and asked us kindly to clean up our mess", I add incredibly.
I mean I wish my parents were like that but it's almost unbelievable. If my mom would have seen us in that situation she would be grounding me for 2 years plus she would think that her daughter was now a whore. Which I am not because I am about 99% sure that Aaron and I did not have sex together last night.
"Well I guess she must be used to walking in on those kinds of scenes by now", Connor adds bitterly. Although he has apologized for the way he acted at the party, I know he still doesn't like when I am around Aaron.
Aubrey shoots Connor a dirty look, which seems to calm him down a little.
I still don't know what is going on between these two but they've been hanging out more and more lately so I guess that must be a good sign.
Before I have the time to add anything, the waitress arrives with our pizzas and fries.
After Aaron's mom had left the kitchen to go to bed I quickly changed out of my hangover attire and into clothes that I owned and I called Aubrey and Connor to meet me at Angie's right away. One, because I was starving and two, well because I had to talk to someone about my adventure last night.
Aaron seemed pretty surprised himself when his mom didn't say anything about our situation. Although I am not going to tell Connor, I don't think his mom usually had this kind of reaction when Aaron hosted parties. Curiosity stirs inside of me when I think about what are the numerous things Aaron Lucas is hiding from the world. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't dying to dig in Aaron's secrets.
"I heard Karen's throwing a party so at least you'll be Aaron free for the night", Aubrey says snapping me away from my thoughts.
In the past, I would probably have been the first to know if there was a party going on tonight but now, I usually just hear about it the day after at school. It's funny how things can change in not even 2 years.
"Are you guys going?" I ask after taking a bite out of my fresh hot pizza. Damn does Angie make the best pizzas!
Connor shrugs his shoulders, still looking a bit irritated because of the previous conversation. And probably the fact that I woke him up this morning to come talk to him about Aaron of all people did not help his mood.
"I don't know we'll see how mister grumpy pants here feels", she teases Connor, bumping his shoulder with hers. Surprisingly, she manages to make Connor smile; impressive.
I definitely have to have a conversation with Aubrey after about her and Connor because by the looks of this, they seem pretty much more than friends. I squeal inside at the thought of my two best friends dating.
"What about you?"
I furrow my eyebrows at Aubrey's question. I don't even know how I ended up at that party three weeks ago so I don't think I'll be going to another one anytime soon.
"Of course I'm going, oh and look outside I think it's raining candy", I say sarcastically with a huge smirk on my face.
Aubrey lets out a groan at my sarcasm but still manages to let out a small smile. As much as she hated when I was sarcastic she loved me so she couldn't really escape it.
