Percy's POV

"Percy?'" Annabeth mumbled. It was the first night we had been at camp. We were sitting on the beach in the sand, looking up at the stars.

"Hm?" Her head was on my shoulder, but she shifted so she could look at me.

"Do you ever think about Bob?"

"Only all the time." I said

We haven't talked about, you know, Tartarus, in years. We did a lot, right after the war. Surprising as it sounds, it had felt good to share. But nothing had been said in while. We still had nightmares, but that's different.

"And Zoe?" she asked. I thought it was strange Annabeth asked about the daughter of Atlas, considering she was holding up the sky when Zoe was around us.

"Yeah. It'll be especially hard with the Hunters around this summer." That might be true, but mostly I added the last part to make Annabeth think about better things. It worked.

"Oh, speaking of that, they're coming tomorrow, right? I can't wait to see Thalia! This is going to be so much fun!"

I smiled. "Yeah it is!" We were quiet for a long time, just enjoying the peacefulness and each other.

"Seaweed Brain? I love you."

I almost said it back, but I hesitated. Before all you come jumping down my throat, let me explain. "I love you" doesn't really cover it. I don't even know where I'd be without Annabeth. Dead in the Underworld. Probably. So instead of responding, I threw her over my shoulder and ran towards the ocean. Annabeth laughed as I plunged us into the cool water. Let's just say it was a pretty much the second-best underwater kiss of all time.
