Hi, I'm Sam and trust me when I say this... 5 years old is a terrible age to experience murder.
It was my birthday and my parents wanted this to be my best year. They were worried about me. My dad always went on business trips and was rarely home. So we moved when I was 3. Miami, Florida to Los Angeles, California. A way too far move for me. But I did get to see dad a lot more, which was good. He was even coming for my birthday. I guess mom was right, this might just be the greatest birthday ever.
Even though I lived here for about two years, I managed to make a few friends and invited them. I guess I'm just really friendly. They even brought their buddies as well so the building was packed.
The place I'm having the party at was about the same as where I used to go to all the time. My favourite burger joint, Candy's Burgers and Fries. I always loved the animatronics there, they were really cute and friendly. Candy was always my favourite because he gave me tiny flower pins every time he was done performing. I hope to never forget him; he will always hold a special place in my heart. LA's famous kids restaurant was a pizza place called Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria. Their animatronics seemed a little worn down but I got used to it. My favourite animatronic here is Foxy the Pirate Fox. He's really cool and tells awesome pirate tales. Foxy was always crowded by kids and I was never able to get close enough. Today was the day though, I could feel it.
One of the waiters showed us to our party room. I was happy everyone showed up and was having fun. I sat down beside my best friend Katie and we waved to each other. She was my first friend in my class and she's really nice.
We talked for a bit but was interrupted by large, loud, robotic footsteps. The noise rang in my ears, causing me to turn my head towards the doorway. A tall shadow was cast on the opposite wall and door. By now the whole table had their eyes on the door. Then as the sound got to its final peak, a pizza box was spot in the doorway, revealing the one and only Chica the Chicken. She was here to deliver the pizza to us. We all clapped in joy as she placed the 3 boxes on our decorated table top.
"Enjoy your lunch, children," Chica happily perked, "And I wish you a very happy birthday, Sam."
She stomped over to me and hugged me from behind. Chica was probably one of the nicer robots that roamed the pizzeria, she always said the nicest things. Not only to me but anyone who had a birthday here, but this is the first time she interacted to me this way. It was peaceful but a small bit concerning. Putting that aside, Chica let go and left the room, gaining the parents approval to dig in.
After our big feast of pizza, juice and chocolate cupcakes, we were allowed to go off and play. Katie quickly grasped my hand and pulled me to one of the newer areas in the place, the Arcade room and Prize Counter. It was huge compared to the party room, but I guess they needed lots of space for the games. Mom bought tokens ahead of time so I had them in my pocket.
The first game I played was a cake delivery game. In the game, you play as Freddy and there are 6 kids in the square that you have to feed. The children who are hungry turn red and start shaking, but once you give them cake, they turn green and dance. I ended up with 260 points and earned 20 tickets.
The second game I came across was called 'Foxy Go!Go!Go!'. It was a maze game where you play as Foxy and search the pizzeria to find all the children. It was a hard game and took me almost 4 minutes to find the kids. I got another 10 tickets added to my bunch.
One hour passed and with the help of mom's number counter, I had 100 tickets. That was enough tickets to get a small plushy. I didn't know which one I wanted because there were so many, so I gave my tickets to the prize man and traded them for a big, token coin for the Prize Box. Katie told me there was a puppet in it that gave kids a surprise gift. When I reached the white and red stripped box, I slipped my coin into the big slot and poked the red button. In a matter of seconds a rattling sound could be heard from inside the box. The top of the box slowly folded open, revealing a white masked head and a skinny, black body; lifted upwards by strings. My smile grew wider as he rose out of the box and I wondered what my prize would be. As the puppet reached to my full view, my smile dropped to a frown. His hands were empty. I looked up at the puppet's mask and it stared right back. Next thing I know, the puppet was starting to lower back into his home, but I got no gift. I guess it was broken. I spun on the spot to face the exit when my ears heard the rattling noise again. I pivoted back towards the box and was shocked with what I saw. It was a plushy, but not just any plushy... a Foxy plushy. It was like the puppet read my mind and found out what my favourite animatronic was! Cool! Walking back to the Prize Box I grabbed my wonderful gift and whispered into the box,
"Thank you."
When I made my way out of the Arcade room, the pizzeria was dark.
Why are the lights turned off? Where is everyone?
My questions were answered when the lights flashed on, burning my eyes. I shut them tight and covered them at the same time. By the time I got used to the brightness, I opened my eyes and was terrified with what was in front of me.
There was a man standing over top of mom, only... she wasn't moving. I felt tears come to my eyes at the sight. The tall, thin man spoke to me with a low, scary voice.
"I will kill you like I did your parents. They will always find you and you wont forget."
And with that the lights flickered and the man disappeared. That was it, my parents were gone and it was just me.
What did he mean by 'they'?
I squeezed my new toy tight, but not too tight, for comfort. I was scared.
Birthday bash?
More like birthday crash!
*i looked it up on google maps and from miami to la, without tolls, it takes about 1 day and 16 hours... But thats without stopping. Now add a 3 years old into the car... Think about it... 😁*
