Mike handed me back Puppet at the same time me and Daniel were trying to calm him down.
"Do you think you could tell us what happened with him?" I asked.
He responded immediately with a terrified face.
"No! Never! I refuse to remember! You can't make me relive that again!"
He had tears in his eyes, none of which have fallen yet. I looked at Daniel and we met eyes; both standing up, we hugged Mike in a forgiving and worried manner. I can't believe that he has been through a lot and he's not even halfway through his life yet. We let go of the hug and Mike took me by the shoulders; forcing me to look at him.
"If you ever encounter him... hide," he whispered.
"But," I said back, "I have, a few times actually, and he's done nothing but help me."
"Ha, yeah right. Even the guy on the phone said he was weird. He's just gaining your trust and when the time is right... he'll take his puppet strings and choke you until your head pops off."
"Liar! He's done nothing to me. Maybe he attacked you because he thought you were the murderer!"
Mike let go of me and stepped back from me a bit.
"What are you trying to say?"
I stood straight and looked into Mike's wide eyes.
"Puppet is the sixth child."
Me and Daniel were playing with our toys and pretending to have a party. I had Puppet in my right hand, ignoring Mike telling me to put him away, and using my left hand I made him hold a piece of cake and carry it to the others. It felt really nice to actually play with my toys with someone else and pretend and make little story sort of things. I'm glad I have such a great friend.
"I feel really sorry for Mike, you know," Daniel said, putting his Bonnie plush down, "I honestly don't know what to do to make him feel better. I mean, I'm just a kid."
"That doesn't make a difference."
"Well I don't know what goes on in his head. I don't want to just guess."
I thought for a moment then remembered Mike's story about his old friends and Sammy and frowned.
"I think he needs a friend."
"What?"
"Mike need someone to talk to and hang out with. Don't you agree?"
"Yeah, totally. But how do we do that?"
I smiled and stood up and walked to Daniel's bedroom door.
"We'll wing it."
When we got down the stairs I saw Mike sitting at the dinning room table, on the laptop, writing on lined paper. He looked very focused in what he was doing, making me think he was mad at me; I might be too, I was a bit mean to him and I really want to apologize. I continued to stare at where Mike was and didn't notice Daniel poking me until he poked my cheek. I flinched and slapped his hand away.
"Sorry," he said, "You seemed to just be staring into space. Do you want me to talk to him first?"
I nodded quickly and pushed Daniel loser to Mike and he laughed; walking over to the table. Watching from the stairs, I saw Daniel get Mike's attention. They faced each other and were talking but I couldn't hear what they were saying. Then Daniel pointed in my direction and Mike turned his head and locked his eyes with mine. He sighed, closing his eyes, and raising his had; waving me over. I obeyed and stood beside Daniel. I spoke before Mike could.
