~12 Years Later~
I walked through the double glass doors into the building of my new job. It was sort of a run-down place, but I can't complain, this is a storage plant after all. I see the elevator in front of me and push the button to call it. When it arrives and the doors slide open, I go inside and let them close behind me. The elevator makes a loud beeping noise, then rattles and starts to descend. It's been a while since I've seen any animatronics, nor do I know what these ones look like. All I know is that they're rentals for parties and I have to make sure they're in good shape for the next day. Soon a static was heard in the elevator and a male voice spoke out through the speakers inside.
"Welcome to your first day of your exciting new career," he greeted, "Whether you were approached at a job fair, read our ad in Screws, Bolts, and Hairpins, or if this is the result of a dare, we welcome you."
It took most of my will-power not to burst into laughter at that last part.
"I'm a model 5 of the Handyman's Robotics and Unit-Repair System..."
That's a mouthful.
"But you can call me Hand-Unit."
Cute.
"You new career promises challenge, intrigue and endless janitorial opportunities."
Great... just what I came for. All of a sudden, a yellow screen with eyes popped in front of me with a messed up keyboard.
"Please enter your name as seen above the keypad," Hand-Unit said, "This cannot be changed later so please be careful."
How am I supposed to write my name if the letters are going crazy? I attempted to find the letters to my name but failed miserably; who knows what I put down.
"It seems that you had some trouble with the keypad."
Yeah, no kidding.
"I see what you were trying to type and I will auto-correct it for you. One moment."
I hope it's not too bad.
"Welcome: Eggs Benedict"
