Christmas. That time of year, where everything is bright and happy. Everything except from me, which is weird, because I'm usually really happy all the time. And Christmas is a bit like me. It can even cheer Paul up, and he's a grump.
There's nothing bright about me. Dark hair, Dark eyes, dark skin. And not the best history of grades, either. Or family history. And not the best of history with pokemon evolution. Axew hadn't evolved for ages.
I kinda lied just then. My love life is bright, sort of. I don't really have one, apart from a small crush on Ash and a bigger crush I knew that Cilan had on me. Talk about love triangles. I guess my thing for Ash wasn't that small, it felt horrible the instant he told me about Misty, and it was worse when I saw them... well, making out, one night after a disco. And Burgundy I'm pretty sure had a thing for Cilan she's been trying to hide since forever.
I wasn't really expecting any christmas presents, but when I heard a knock on the door and saw Cilan and his brothers standing there with gift boxes in their hands, a voice in my head seemed to sigh and say, finally.
"Aw, guys, did you have to?"
"Anything for a girl." Said Chili. I wasn't really surprised, he was the flirt of them, after all.
"Come in then, I've made cookies!" They were chocolate ones, me and Cilan's favourite kind in the shape of our pokemon. "You want hot chocolate?" It was snowing outside, and the people were all wearing gloves and scarves.
"Ok."
A couple walked past. The boy had black hair and the girl had orange hair, and they were talking and laughing happily. I hope I would get a chance to be part of a couple like that girl.
"Here you go." I passed them all a mug.
"Wow Iris, this is some hot stuff!" Chili said. I'd made his with chilli chocolate powder.
"Cool." Cress said. The only reason I had Mint chocolate powder in the house was because the three of them liked to visit often. Mint was Cress's specialty, and his favourite.
"As they always say, the original is the best." I used the regular old stuff for Cilan. He didn't have any preferences, but he did prefer stuff made by me.
"Cilan, do you always have to be poetic?" I said.
"How can I not be, when there's such a pretty young lady next to me?"
"Don't call me young lady, old sir!"
"Don't call me that!" He grinned.
I sighed.
"Well, since you're here, how about let's open our presents!"
I opened Chili's first. It was giant emolga plush, complete with pokeball.
"Aw, it's adorable!" I squealed.
Cress' was up next. A necklace of dragon tooth.
"Cool!" I said. And now for Cilan's... I swear everyone could hear my heart pounding, it was so loud.
Cilan stepped forward, a ribbon tied to his hand.
"They gave you something to keep for a while, but I'm giving you something that lasts forever..."
He stepped forward, and before I knew it, we were kissing.
