It was the week after Yugi and Seto's duel, Seto hasn't been in school all week not that you were expecting him to come to school you were worried about him. "Joey, make a move already" Tristan laughed, Joey and Téa were duelling each other again. "Okay, here you go, tough guy. My Rock Ogre's gonna rock your block off." Joey giggled, Téa placed a card in defence mode and put a card face down. "Yeah, Téa. Like that wimpy card has a chance against my giant rock guy. Give it up" Joey boasted "I guess I don't stand a chance... unless maybe I use the Breath of Life card," she said before revealing her magic card "Huh? Can she do that?" Joey asked "Oh yeah, the Breath of Life wears down rock monsters and reduces them to rubble" Yugi answered. "That brings your life points down to zero, Joey. Once again, you lose, and I rock." Téa laughed "You stink at this game" Tristan teased, the bell rang signalling it was lunch.

"Tristan's right, Yugi. I do stink. I can't win at Duel Monsters to save my life. What is it, Yugi? Why can't I ever win? Teach me what I'm doing wrong." Joey begged, "Well, let's start by checking your deck, Joey." Yugi replied Joey handed over his deck, and you and Yugi began looking through his deck it was filled with nothing but monster cards! "Powerhouse line up don't you think?" Joey asked, "No one could win with these Joey, your deck's filled with nothing but monster cards," you told him "You got it, I packed it with every butt-kicking monster I could find" Joey laughed. "But that's not how the game works Joey! Duel Monsters is all about combining your monster cards with your magic cards to increase their strength. With no magic in your deck, your monsters will be creamed every time." Yugi informed him, "hah! See? That's the kind of stuff I need to know! Guys, you've gotta help me learn more!" Joey pleaded "My Grandpa's the real game expert in the family, maybe he can help you after school we can go to the game shop," Yugi told him.

After school finished, the three of you headed to the game shop to ask Grandpa if he would teach Joey. "Hey, Grandpa! I brought you a new student!" Yugi chirped as you, and Joey entered the store "It's not you by any chance is it?" Grandpa asked, smiling at you. "Nope sorry Grandpa" you laughed "I was hoping, since you know more about Duel Monsters than anyone, maybe you'd teach me." Joey said hopefully "Teach you? Duel Monsters is a very complex game" Grandpa replied "Yeah. Tell me about it. Téa beat me three games in a row." Joey told him "Actually, Téa beat you five times in a row, Joey" You chuckled "Five? Aww man" Joey whined. "hmmm. Yes, I could teach you to be a great tournament duelist but only if you're willing to spend endless days and sleepless nights filled with rigorous training" Grandpa warned him "Ahh. Piece of cake" Joey chuckled "With an attitude like that, teaching you may not be worth my effort!" Grandpa said angrily "I will work hard, I promise," Joey said desperately. "Hmmm... It's not impossible. "Huh? You mean it, Gramps?" Joey questioned happily "Fine, then we'll begin your instruction immediately, my young friend. And believe me, under my tutelage, you will learn. Now, can you name the most powerful Duel Monster?" Grandpa asked "Uh... No" Joey answered, "can you name the weakest?" Grandpa asked "Noooo" Joey replied, "You do know what a trap card is, don't you?" Grandpa asked "Kinda... Uhh, I have no idea" Joey responded looks like Joey's gonna be training for a long time!

"Good evening duel fans and our ten million viewers at home, and welcome to the Duel Monsters Duel Dome, where tonight, the Duel Monsters Regional Championship will be decided. Of the two hundred duelists who have competed in this marathon tournament, only two competitors remain standing. Put your cards together for Weevil Underwood, the Bug Brawler. His opponent, the number one ranked, Rex Raptor, Dino Duelist." The announcer said enthusiastically as the two duelists appeared on opposite sides of the playing field "Bug Boy versus Dinosaur Man, what kind of match is that? That should've been me in there!" Joey ranted "I know you've been training hard, but those guys are in another league. You're just not ready yet." Téa replied to Joey. "And on top of that, you're so tired you can't keep your eyes open" you laughed "See, it's true what they say- you snooze, you lose" Tristan shouted waking Joey up in the process "Yugi. This package came for you" Grandpa said as he walked into the room holding a white parcel "A package? What is it, Gramps?" Yugi questioned curiously as he took the package "I don't know. It just came in the mail." Grandpa answered "Huh. It's from Industrial Illusions" Yugi said as he read the delivery label.

"That's the company that makes the Duel Monsters game. Why the heck would they be sending a package to you, Yugi?" Tristan asked "I have no idea. Is it possible they heard I beat the world champion?" Yugi questioned "You mean... Kaiba?" Téa questioned "Just hearing Kaiba's name gives me a headache" Joey whined "Oh shut ya trap Joey," you said slightly aggressively "Whoa, guys, Raptor just stomped Weevil." Tristan exclaimed. The match ended not long after with Weevil being the winner.

"Hah! With all the excitement of the championship, you forgot to open your package, Yugi" Grandpa chuckled, Yugi opened the box. It contained a VHS tape, a red glove and two gold stars. "Maybe there's an explanation on the video" you suggested, Yugi put the VHS tape into the VCR, and Pegasus appeared on the TV! "Greetings, little Yugi. I am Maximillion Pegasus" Pegasus greeted. "I have heard some interesting things about you, Yugi. Your present defeat of Seto Kaiba intrigued me so much, I've decided to investigate your amazing duelling skills personally. Right here, right now, we shall hold a special duel. We'll play with a strict time limit of fifteen minutes and when time's up, the player with the highest life-points will be the winner. Are you ready?" Pegasus "wha-? He can't seriously expect you to fight a duel against a videotape" Joey asked, something began glowing on the screen and you blacked out.

When you woke up, Yugi was yelling for his grandpa before he began crying "Yugi what's wrong?" You all asked, "P-Pegasus h-he had a Millennium item and took Grandpa's soul!" He cried, tears streaming down his face. "The glove and the stars they must be for the new tournament Pegasus talked about earlier at the championships. That's how we'll get your grandpa's soul back Yugi! You'll do it! We all believe in you" you assured him "...thanks, guys!" Yugi said happily before you all shared a group hug. You all decided to stay over at Yugi's house, you were sharing Yugi's room, Tristan and Téa were in the guest room and Joey took the sofa. "Do you think I'll be able to beat Pegasus in a duel and get my grandpa's soul back?" He asked "Of course! You just need to believe in yourself like the rest of us do!" You answered "Thanks, and I'm... sorry about Kaiba," he said, "Why are you apologising?" "Well I know you care about him and not seeing him for a week I guess you're pretty worried" he explained "Oh right well I am but I'll just have to wait it out he can't hide from the world forever. Night Yugi," you said but he was already snoring, you laughed quietly before going to sleep yourself.
