A Date That's Totally Not A Date

It had been three weeks since our trip to the museum, Seto had already started working on what he had called the Battle City Tournament. There would be new rules and something else that he was keeping secret for now, his tournament was already starting to sound more interesting than Pegasus' ever was. The school bell rang as we walked out the class. "Man, did that lesson drag or what?" "Joey, you were asleep for most of it" "I was not! Besides Tristan fell asleep first!" I laughed quietly at the exchange as we walked out the door. "So guys, are we heading to my place?" Yugi asked "always do pal" Joey grinned before a familiar black limo pulled up, the window rolled down revealing Seto in a very nice looking suit. "Kaiba? What are you doin here!?" Joey asked with his usual angered tone. "I'm not here for you Wheeler so don't get too excited, I'm here for Y/N. I have business with her that doesn't concern you dorks." The door opened for me to get inside. "We'll see you later then Y/N" Téa giggled before she and the other left. I sighed quietly before getting inside, closing the door as I sat down. "So what's so important that you needed to get me straight after School?" I questioned "well gee, don't look too happy about it. I just wanted to invite you to dinner as I ran some more ideas of the tournament by you, everyone under my payroll is just a cowardly yesman. I need actual feedback" he told me.

Seto had this planned because we were escorted as soon as we stepped inside. "This place is so fancy...Could have at least let me get into something different..." I was still wearing my school uniform, I felt so out of place here. "You look fine, stop moping so we can get down to business" he grunted as we sat at our table. "I want this tournament to be unique, something only I could bring to the world of Duel Monsters. I'm currently working on an advanced version of my duel disk, the machine I used against Yugi at Duelist Kingdom. This one will be a lot easier to use, I've also made several new rules for this tournament" he told me before we gave our orders to the waiter. "I see, that would make this tournament stand out from Pegasus'. It'd also make holographic duels accessible everywhere, one could break out in the streets without much hassle. I'm sure you came up with it" I laughed quietly. "Of course I did, this is my tournament after all. It'll be the Battle City tournament, duels will be allowed to break out anywhere at any time" he smirked. "What will be the most interesting is the new rules my tournament will be implementing. The one that will attract the rare hunters is what happens after a duel is over. The loser forfeits their rarest card to the winner." I nodded in agreement with a smile. "You've done really well with this. These rules as well as the new duel disks will be sure to attract them as well as other powerful duelists." Seto smiled ever so slightly. "I'm glad agree Y/N. Your opinion is one of the few that actually matters."

We ate dinner and stayed in the restaurant until it was late. Seto, Seto's limo driver anyway, took me home. "I'll see you again soon Y/N, enjoy the rest of your night" I smiled and kissed his cheek, his ivory cheeks went pink. "Same to you, goodnight Seto." I got out of the limo and walked to my door as he drove off. "That was a nice date! He could have been a bit more cheerful" Dark Magician Girl pouted. "A-a date!? What are you talking about!? It was just two friends getting together for dinner!" I argued, now inside. "Y/N went on a date, Y/N went on a date!" She continued to tease before Dark Magician showed up. "Enough teasing, you have training to be doing" he scolded her before looking at me. "I hope you enjoyed your day. Date or not, that Seto boy does seem to care about you." I sighed heavily, ignoring his insane statement and went to bed.

The next morning just before I went out to go food shopping, I found a parcel on my door step. "It's from Seto..." I opened it up revealing a box. "It's a new duel disk from KaibaCorp!" I grinned happily, unboxing the machine. "Impressive, he refined it rather quickly. I'm sure this tournament will be challenging and certainly dangerous, be on your guard young master" Dark Magician warned me. "Yeah I know, I've been on guard since Yugi went to the hospital after that fire" I muttered before going shopping. I brought everything home and put it away and turned on the tv, Kaiba was on the news announcing the tournament from city plaza...In his helicopter. "Loves showing off doesn't he" I chuckled quietly. The tournament was going to start in a couple of days. Finally something new and exciting!
